Umrah Packages for February Half Term

In 2027, February half term falls inside Ramadan. Which means you are booking a Ramadan trip whether you wanted one or not.

The dates

Most English authorities show half term as Monday 15 to Friday 19 February 2027. Ramadan begins around 8 February, subject to moon sighting.

So a seven night trip departing the weekend before half term spans roughly the 13th to the 20th, which straddles the end of the first ten nights and the start of the middle ten.

What that means for the price

Between £749 and £825 per person depending on your departure day, rather than the £499 a normal February half term would cost.

And the part that is genuinely good news

Half term lands on the calmest part of Ramadan, not the busiest. The last ten nights, which are the crowded and expensive ones, do not begin until around the 28th.

So if you were ever going to take children to Ramadan, this is the right part of the month, and the school alignment means you do not have to take them out of school to do it.

The short version

Half term 2027 is 15 to 19 February, inside Ramadan.

It straddles the first and middle ten nights, so £749 to £825 rather than £499.

It is not the last ten nights. Those begin around the 28th and are a completely different proposition.

Ramadan with children is genuinely demanding and there is an honest section on it.

If you did not want Ramadan, Easter 2027 is £499 and it is the better family trip.

What that table shows

Half term sits in the first half of Ramadan, well clear of the last ten nights.

Why the departure day matters

Depart on Saturday the 13th and most of your trip sits in the first ten nights at £749. Depart on the 20th and most of it sits in the middle ten at £825.

That is roughly £76 per person, or £300 across a family of four, for a week either way.

The caveat that applies to all of it

Every date here depends on moon sighting and could move by a day. If your dates sit near a window boundary, we price both possibilities rather than gambling on one.

What we would suggest

The earlier departure, on the weekend of the 13th. Cheaper, calmer, and it keeps you further from the build toward the last ten nights.

And the thing to check

Your own authority dates. Academies set their own, Welsh councils differ, and Scottish half term is frequently a different week entirely.

If you wanted Ramadan anyway

Then this is a rare alignment and it is worth taking.

Why it is rare

Ramadan with school-age children normally means taking them out of school, because Ramadan moves through the calendar and rarely coincides with a UK holiday.

In 2027 it does. That will not happen again for years.

What you get

A full Ramadan Umrah with your children, inside a school holiday, in the calmest part of the month, at £749 to £825 rather than the £1,199 the last ten nights would cost.

The reward

The reward for performing Umrah in Ramadan is widely understood to apply across the whole month rather than only the final third. Anything beyond that is a question for someone qualified.

What we can say practically is that the first half of the month is the manageable half, and it is where half term lands.

The fasting conditions

A February Ramadan means around eleven and a half hours of fasting at 22 to 30 degrees. A summer Ramadan means over thirteen hours at 40 plus.

This is the mildest version available, which matters considerably if anybody in your party is fasting while walking to the mosque five times a day.

And it is a passing window

Ramadan moves about eleven days earlier each year, so it will drift back toward summer. If a Ramadan Umrah has been on your list and the heat put you off, this is the part of the cycle to do it in.

Full detail on the timings in our February guide.

If you did not want Ramadan

What you are being asked to pay

£749 to £825 against the £499 that February half term would cost in a normal year. That is £250 to £326 per person, or £1,000 to £1,300 across a family of four.

And what you get for it

A busier Haram, a completely different rhythm to the day, and parents fasting while managing children who are not.

None of which is a problem if Ramadan is what you wanted. All of which is a problem if you were expecting a normal winter family trip.

The alternative

Easter 2027 at £499. Good Friday is 26 March and most English authorities show holidays from the 26th of March to the 9th of April.

That sits entirely inside the post-Ramadan window, with the calmest Haram since November, comfortable weather and two full weeks rather than one.

Ramadan with children, honestly

The section this page exists for, because it is what a family in this position actually needs to know.

The day inverts

Days become quiet and nights become the main part of life. Iftar at Maghrib, Isha, then Taraweeh which runs long. Most people sleep in the middle of the day rather than at night.

What that means for children

Their sleep pattern goes with it, or it does not and they are exhausted. Plan for the first two days to be difficult while everybody adjusts.

Fasting parents, non-fasting children

The practical challenge nobody writes about. You are fasting, your six year old is not, and they still need feeding at normal hours in a city where the restaurants are shut until Maghrib.

What to do about it

Take food with you. Snacks, fruit, sandwiches from the hotel breakfast if there is one. Hotel room service and shops operate but the choice during daylight is limited and children get hungry on their own schedule.

And where to feed them

In your room rather than in public spaces, which is the normal courtesy during fasting hours.

Iftar at the Haram with children

The genuinely wonderful part. Food laid out across the mosque floor daily, free, and shared with whoever is beside you regardless of language.

Children respond to it in a way they do not to much else on the trip, and it is the thing families remember.

The practical note

Go early to get a spot, take wet wipes, and expect it to be busy and generous and slightly chaotic.

Taraweeh with children

Long. Genuinely long, and young children will not last the full prayer.

Most families with young children pray part of it and leave, or one parent stays and the other takes the children back. Both are completely normal.

Children old enough to fast

The widely taught position is that fasting is not obligatory before puberty, and many families have younger children practise partial fasts.

Whether and how much your children fast is a family decision and a question for someone qualified rather than for us. What we can say is that eleven and a half hours at 22 to 30 degrees is the mildest version they will encounter.

The crowds

Busier than a normal winter trip and nothing like the last ten nights. Ground floor Tawaf is workable in the first half of the month, which matters enormously with children.

The honest summary

Ramadan with children is demanding and it is doable in the first half of the month. It is not doable in the last ten nights, and the fact that half term falls where it does is what makes this year workable at all.

Why the last ten is different

Roads close to traffic for periods, hotel shuttles stop or relocate, and the mosque fills hours before Maghrib. With children that is a genuinely difficult environment rather than a busy one.

Full detail on that window in a separate post.

Why half term is fortunate

It lands well clear of it. The last ten nights do not begin until around the 28th of February and half term ends on the 19th.

What that means practically

You get Ramadan at the Haram with your children, in the manageable half, without the road closures and without the peak pricing.

The hotel rule still applies, just less severely

In the last ten nights we insist on under four hundred metres. In the first half of Ramadan, under five hundred is comfortable and under seven hundred is workable.

With children we would still aim for five hundred, for the same reason as any family trip. Being able to take a tired child back mid-afternoon is what makes it work.

And Ziyarat

Harder while fasting, and workable in the first half. Go in the morning and keep it short. Most of the Makkah itinerary is standing outside at unshaded sites.

What to book

The departure day

The weekend of the 13th rather than the 20th. Cheaper, calmer, and further from the build toward the last ten nights.

The length

Seven nights, because half term is one week and about nine days with the weekends either side.

Ten nights is possible if you can take a couple of days either end, and in Ramadan we would not push you toward it. The rhythm is demanding and a week is enough with children.

The split

Most of it in Makkah. Four Makkah nights and three in Madinah is our default for seven, and in Ramadan the Makkah half is where the experience is.

Madinah in Ramadan is calmer and genuinely pleasant, and it is not why you came.

The tier

Four star, at £899 to £999 depending on which window your dates fall in. Under five hundred metres.

The step from three star roughly halves your walk and removes the shuttle. With children in Ramadan that matters more than it does in a normal month.

The configuration

Quad sharing for a family of four, which is a private room and the lowest price. Five or six people need two rooms and connecting rooms should be requested at the enquiry.

When February half term comes back

The movement

Ramadan shifts about eleven days earlier each year against the Gregorian calendar, because the Islamic calendar is lunar and runs shorter.

What that means

Includes return flights, both hotels named in writing with the distance in metres and the nearest gate, the Saudi Umrah visa, all three transfers and guided Ziyarat in both cities.

What a family actually pays

Less than four times the adult rate. Children two to eleven pay a reduced rate, under twos are lap infants, and quad sharing means one room.

Send dates of birth rather than ages and we will build the real figure, which is almost always lower than the one people calculate.

The departure day difference

Roughly £76 per person, or £300 across a family of four, between the 13th and the 20th.

The deposit

£99 per person, so £396 secures a family of four, and it fixes your price in writing.

How we price

We check comparable UK packages every month and sit £20 under the lowest we can find for the same nights and the same hotel tier.

What to do now

  1. Check your own authority dates. Academies differ, Welsh councils differ, and Scottish half term is frequently a different week.
  2. Decide whether you want Ramadan. If yes, this is a rare alignment. If no, Easter 2027 is £499 and two weeks.
  3. Depart the weekend of the 13th rather than the 20th if you can. Cheaper and calmer.
  4. Book by September, because Ramadan competes globally rather than only with British families.
  5. Send dates of birth, so we can build the real family figure.
  6. Ask about connecting rooms first if you are five or six people.
  7. Take food for the children. Restaurants are shut during daylight and children get hungry on their own schedule.

The one that decides everything

The second. If Ramadan is what you want, this year is a gift. If it is not, you are paying £250 to £326 per person for something you did not ask for.

And the one nobody thinks of

The last. It is the single most practical thing on this page for a family with young children in Ramadan.

The summary

It is a Ramadan trip this year

Half term is 15 to 19 February and Ramadan begins around the 8th. There is no version of February half term 2027 that is not inside it.

But it is the calm half

It straddles the first and middle ten nights, well clear of the last ten which begin around the 28th. That is what makes it workable with children.

The price is £749 to £825

Depending on your departure day, against £499 for a normal February half term. Depart the weekend of the 13th for the lower end.

Ramadan with children is demanding and doable

The day inverts, you will be fasting while they are not, and Taraweeh is longer than they will last. Iftar at the Haram is the part they will remember.

And if you did not want Ramadan

Easter 2027 at £499, two full weeks, post-Ramadan, with the calmest Haram since November. It is the better family trip this year by a distance.

The situation

When is February half term 2027?

Most English authorities show Monday 15 to Friday 19 February. Scottish and Welsh dates differ.

Is it inside Ramadan?

Yes. Ramadan begins around 8 February, so there is no version of half term 2027 that falls outside it.

Which part of Ramadan?

It straddles the end of the first ten nights and the start of the middle ten.

Is that the busy part?

No. The last ten nights begin around the 28th, well after half term ends.

What does it cost?

Between £749 and £825 per person depending on your departure day, against £499 in a normal year.

Why the range?

Depart on the 13th and most of the trip sits in the first ten nights at £749. Depart on the 20th and it sits in the middle ten at £825.

Which should I take?

The 13th. Cheaper, calmer, and further from the build toward the last ten nights.

How much is that worth?

Around £76 per person, or £300 across a family of four.

Could the dates move?

Every one depends on moon sighting. If your dates sit near a boundary we price both possibilities.

If you wanted Ramadan

Is this a good year for Ramadan with children?

A rare one. Ramadan normally means taking children out of school and in 2027 it does not.

How often does that happen?

Rarely, because Ramadan moves about eleven days earlier each year. It will not align again for years.

What do I get?

A full Ramadan Umrah with your children, in a school holiday, in the calm half of the month, at £749 to £825 rather than £1,199.

Does the reward apply outside the last ten nights?

The reward for Umrah in Ramadan is widely understood to apply across the whole month. Anything further is a question for someone qualified.

How long is the fast?

Around eleven and a half hours at 22 to 30 degrees. The mildest version available.

How does that compare to a summer Ramadan?

Over thirteen hours at 40 plus. Two hours longer and twenty degrees hotter.

Will it stay this mild?

No. Ramadan drifts back toward summer, so this is the part of the cycle to go in if heat has put you off.

If you did not

What am I paying extra for?

£250 to £326 per person, or £1,000 to £1,300 across a family of four, against a normal February half term.

What do I get for it?

A busier Haram, an inverted day, and parents fasting while managing children who are not.

What should I book instead?

Easter 2027 at £499. Good Friday is 26 March and most English authorities show holidays to 9 April.

Why is Easter better this year?

It sits entirely in the post-Ramadan window, with the calmest Haram since November, comfortable weather, and two full weeks rather than one.

How much does that save?

£250 to £326 per person, and you get twice the break.

Any other option?

October half term at £499, which is the best school holiday window in the UK calendar in any year.

What would you recommend?

If Ramadan appeals, take half term. If you wanted a normal family trip, take Easter.

Ramadan with children

What is the biggest adjustment?

The day inverts. Nights become the main part of life and most people sleep in the middle of the day.

How do children cope with that?

Their pattern goes with it or they are exhausted. Plan for the first two days to be difficult while everybody adjusts.

What about feeding children during the day?

Take food with you. Restaurants are shut until Maghrib and children get hungry on their own schedule.

What should I take?

Snacks, fruit, and sandwiches from the hotel breakfast if there is one.

Where should they eat?

In your room rather than public spaces, which is the normal courtesy during fasting hours.

What is iftar at the Haram like with children?

The genuinely wonderful part. Food laid across the mosque floor, free, shared with whoever is beside you. Children respond to it more than to anything else on the trip.

Any practical tips for iftar?

Go early for a spot, take wet wipes, and expect it to be busy and generous and slightly chaotic.

Can children manage Taraweeh?

Young children will not last the full prayer. Most families pray part and leave, or one parent stays and the other takes them back.

Is that acceptable?

Completely normal and very widely done.

Should my children fast?

The widely taught position is that it is not obligatory before puberty. Whether and how much is a family decision and a question for someone qualified.

How busy is the Haram?

Busier than a normal winter trip and nothing like the last ten nights. Ground floor Tawaf is workable in the first half of the month.

Is it doable with children overall?

Demanding and doable in the first half of the month. Not doable in the last ten nights.

The windows

Which Ramadan window is best with children?

The first ten nights. Manageable crowds, the lowest Ramadan price, and close-in hotels still available.

And the middle ten?

Busier and workable. Half term straddles the boundary between the two.

Why do you advise against the last ten with children?

Roads close, shuttles stop or relocate, and the mosque fills hours before Maghrib. That is a difficult environment rather than a busy one.

When do the last ten begin?

Around 28 February, nine days after half term ends.

How close should our hotel be?

Under five hundred metres with children. In the last ten nights we insist on four hundred, and in the first half five hundred is comfortable.

Can we do Ziyarat?

Harder while fasting and workable in the first half. Go in the morning and keep it short.

What to book

How long should we go?

Seven nights. Half term is one week and about nine days with the weekends either side.

Should we take ten nights?

Possible with a couple of days either end, and we would not push you toward it. The rhythm is demanding and a week is enough with children.

How should we split it?

Four Makkah nights and three in Madinah. The Makkah half is where the Ramadan experience is.

What tier?

Four star, at £899 to £999 depending on the window, under five hundred metres.

Why four star?

The step from three star roughly halves your walk and removes the shuttle. With children in Ramadan that matters more than usual.

Should we book full board?

No. Free iftar is laid out at the Haram daily and full board adds £15 to £30 per person per day for meals served at hours you will not eat.

When should we book?

By September. Ramadan competes globally rather than only with British families.

What if we are five or six people?

Two rooms, and connecting rooms should be requested at the enquiry rather than on arrival.

Prices and the future

What does a family of four pay?

Less than four times the adult rate. Children two to eleven pay a reduced rate and quad sharing is one room.

How do I get the real figure?

Send dates of birth rather than ages, because age at travel is what counts.

What is the deposit?

£99 per person, so £396 for a family of four.

When does February half term stop being a Ramadan trip?

Around 2030 on current projections, as Ramadan continues to move earlier.

What about 2028 and 2029?

Still inside in 2028, and right at the end or just after in 2029.

What should I use in the meantime?

October half term, which never moves, and Easter while it sits post-Ramadan.

Are those projections reliable?

Directional and subject to moon sighting. If a specific year matters, ask us rather than planning from a table.
