A luxury Umrah package from the UK costs between £690 and £1,489 per person. Where you land in that range depends on two things: how many nights you stay, and how close to the Kaaba you actually want to sleep.

That second bit is where most UK pilgrims get caught out. The word luxury gets thrown around loosely in Umrah advertising. A hotel a kilometre out from the Haram can carry five stars and still leave you walking twenty minutes each way, five times a day, in 42 degree heat. A room in the Clock Tower complex puts you a hundred metres from Gate 1. Both get advertised as luxury. The price gap between them is about £460 per person, and the experience gap is much bigger than that.

Who you’re booking with

Packages Umrah is a Manchester Umrah agency trading as Uraan Travel Ltd, based at 7 Huxley Avenue in Cheetham Hill, M8 0SJ. Not a comparison site, not a general holiday agent with an Umrah page bolted on. Umrah is the only thing we sell.

You can walk in. Bring the passports, sit down with an agent, go through hotels and dates in English or Urdu, and leave without paying anything. For a lot of families booking a first Umrah, or booking for parents in their seventies, that matters more than any online form.

On luxury bookings specifically, we deal with the same handful of Makkah properties week in and week out, so we know which room categories actually face the Kaaba and which ones are sold as Haram view and look out over a car park. We’ll tell you which is which before you pay.

Pricing works on a fixed rule. We check comparable UK packages every month and sit £20 under the lowest one we can find for the same nights and the same hotel tier. No launch offer, no first-booking discount that quietly disappears. It’s just how we price.

Luxury broken down by how close you actually sleep to the Kaaba

This is the table that matters. Same 5 star classification across all three rows. Very different trips.

Per person, quad sharing, off-peak. Kaaba View pricing is for a confirmed Kaaba-facing room category, not a general Haram view allocation. Twin and double occupancy add roughly £180 to £340 per person depending on tier and season.

Why the jump between rows is so big

Land inside the Abraj Al Bait footprint is finite. There are seven hotels in that complex and no more are being built, because there’s nowhere left to put them. Everything else in Makkah is further out by definition. So the premium you pay for those hundred metres isn’t a markup we invented, it’s scarcity, and it goes up every year.

The other thing driving the top row is room inventory. A hotel might have 1,600 rooms and only a couple of hundred with a genuine unobstructed view of the Kaaba. Those go first, usually four to six months out, and faster than that for Ramadan.

What actually makes an Umrah package luxury

Four things decide it. Distance, gate, room category, and what happens on the ground. Star ratings barely come into it.

1. Distance, measured properly

Ask for metres, not minutes. Minutes are elastic. A five minute walk at 2am in October is a fifteen minute crawl at Maghrib in Ramadan when the courtyard is full and the police are managing flow.

Rough guide for what the numbers mean in practice. Under 200 metres and you can go back to the room between Asr and Maghrib without thinking about it. Between 200 and 500 metres and you’ll do it, but you’ll plan around it. Past 800 metres and most people stop going back, which means long stretches sitting in the Haram, which is fine for a fit thirty year old and hard on a seventy year old with a bad knee.

2. Which gate you come out at

Nobody mentions this and it changes your whole day. Masjid al-Haram has dozens of entrances and they don’t all lead to the same place.

King Abdulaziz Gate, usually called Gate 1, is the main entrance closest to the Abraj Al Bait complex and it feeds toward the Mataf. King Fahd Gate on the western side serves the Jabal Omar hotels. Bab Al Salam is the traditional entrance for starting Tawaf. If your hotel sits behind a gate that only opens onto an upper level, you’re walking a lot further inside the mosque than the brochure distance suggests.

3. Room category, and the words that hide behind it

Three terms get used almost interchangeably and they cost hundreds of pounds apart.

City view

No sight of the mosque. Cheapest room in a luxury hotel. Perfectly comfortable, and if you’re going to be in the Haram for most of your waking hours anyway, it’s not a bad call.

Haram view

You can see part of the mosque complex or the courtyard. You probably cannot see the Kaaba itself. This is the category most often mis-sold, because technically the hotel isn’t lying.

Kaaba view

Direct line of sight to the Kaaba from the room. In the Clock Tower these sit on the higher floors, roughly the twentieth upward, and the view improves the higher you go. This is a specific, bookable room category with its own rate. If a quote says luxury Umrah package with Kaaba view and doesn’t name the room category, ask for it in writing.

4. What happens on the ground

The bit that separates a real premium package from a standard one with a nicer hotel. Private transfer instead of waiting for a coach to fill. Someone meeting you at Jeddah arrivals who knows your name. A named agent on WhatsApp at 3am Saudi time instead of a shared inbox that opens at nine.

None of that shows up in a star rating. All of it shows up on day one when your flight lands at 4am and there are eleven other families waiting for the same bus.

Luxury hotels in Makkah, sorted by zone

We group Makkah properties into three zones by walking distance to the nearest Haram gate. Every luxury quote we send names the zone and the hotel.

Zone 1: the Abraj Al Bait complex, under 200 metres

The Clock Tower development sits directly opposite the Haram’s eastern side. Seven hotels share the footprint, connected through the mall level, which means most of the walk to the mosque is covered and air conditioned. In August that is worth real money.

Makkah Clock Royal Tower, a Fairmont Hotel

Distance and access

Roughly 100 to 150 metres from King Abdulaziz Gate. Two to four minutes on foot outside prayer rush.

Best for

Anyone whose priority is a Kaaba-facing room. It sits under the clock face itself and has the widest selection of view categories in Makkah. Also the first to sell out.

Raffles Makkah Palace

Distance and access

Same complex, same gate. Around 150 metres.

Best for

All-suite property with butler service. Families travelling with elderly parents who want space and quiet more than they want the view. The most expensive room per night in the complex.

Pullman ZamZam Makkah

Distance and access

Around 150 metres, covered route through the mall.

Best for

Families and groups. Connecting rooms and flexible configurations, which the other Zone 1 properties don’t do as well. Usually the best value in the complex once you’re booking four or more people.

Swissotel Al Maqam and Swissotel Makkah

Distance and access

Both inside the complex, under 200 metres.

Best for

Zone 1 location at a lower rate than Fairmont or Raffles. Sensible pick if you want the walk but aren’t paying extra for the view.

Movenpick Hajar Tower and Al Marwa Rayhaan by Rotana

Distance and access

Complex-adjacent, similar walk.

Best for

The most accessible entry point into Zone 1. If your budget stops around £900 per person but you refuse to walk more than three minutes, this is where we look first.

Zone 2: Jabal Omar and the western approach, 200 to 500 metres

The Jabal Omar development runs up the hillside on the western side, feeding toward King Fahd Gate. Newer buildings, bigger rooms, more space per pound. The catch is a gentle incline on the way back from the mosque, which is nothing at 25 degrees and noticeable at 43.

Properties here include Conrad Makkah, Jumeirah Jabal Omar and several Hyatt and Address towers. Our Luxury Standard tier at £690 per person for 7 nights sits in this zone.

Zone 3: 500 metres to 1 kilometre

Hilton Suites Makkah, Millennium and a handful of others. Comfortable 5 star rooms, often larger than Zone 1 for half the price, and most run a shuttle to the Haram.

Honest assessment: this is where the word luxury starts doing heavy lifting. The hotel is genuinely nice. The location is not a luxury location. In January that trade is fine. In July with elderly parents it isn’t, and we’ll say so rather than sell it to you.

Luxury hotels in Madinah

Madinah is easier and cheaper. The area around Masjid an-Nabawi is flatter, the walks are shorter, and the price premium for proximity is nothing like Makkah’s.

The central zone hotels sit on the piazza itself, mostly within 100 to 250 metres of the mosque gates. Anwar Al Madinah Movenpick, Dar Al Taqwa, The Oberoi Madinah and the Pullman ZamZam Madinah all fall in that band. Bab 21 and Bab 25 are the gates most hotel guests use.

Something worth knowing before you get excited about a Madinah upgrade. You will not spend much time in the room. Madinah runs at a slower pace than Makkah and most pilgrims end up in the mosque for hours at a stretch between Maghrib and Isha. If your budget is finite, spend it in Makkah and take a good central Madinah hotel rather than a spectacular one.

The Rawdah permit

Access to the Rawdah al-Sharifah, the area between the Prophet’s minbar and his resting place, peace be upon him, runs on timed permits booked through the Nusuk app. It’s free. Slots open on a rolling basis and go quickly, particularly for women, whose visiting hours are more restricted.

No hotel and no travel agency can get you a Rawdah slot outside that system. Anyone charging you for one is selling you something they don’t have. We show you how to book it yourself, on your phone, before you leave the UK.

Luxury Umrah packages by duration

Four lengths. The right one depends on your annual leave more than anything else.

7 nights luxury Umrah package, from £690 per person

Four nights Makkah, three Madinah, or five and two if you want more time at the Haram. Covers Ihram, Tawaf, Sa’i and Halq comfortably, plus the Rawdah and the main Madinah Ziyarat sites.

Takes about five working days of leave if you fly Thursday and return the following Friday. Fits inside February half term, Easter, October half term and the Christmas break without needing to ask for anything special at work.

10 nights luxury Umrah package, from £745 per person

Six nights Makkah, four Madinah. This is the one we recommend most often, and the reason is specific: six nights in Makkah lets you perform Tawaf at four genuinely different times of day. Fajr with the courtyard half empty and the marble cold under your feet. Mid morning. After Maghrib. Then somewhere past midnight when the crowd thins out again and the Mataf is at its calmest.

You cannot do that in four nights. You’re too busy adjusting to the time difference and finding your bearings.

It’s £55 more than the 7 night at this tier. A 10 nights Umrah package at 3 star level starts at £545.

12 nights luxury Umrah package, from £790 per person

Seven Makkah, five Madinah. Suits retired pilgrims, extended families moving at the pace of the slowest member, and anyone taking a career break or unpaid leave.

By night eight or nine something changes. You stop navigating the city and start living in it. You know which entrance is quiet, which stairwell to the Mataf is fastest, where to buy dates that aren’t aimed at tourists. A 12 nights Umrah package on the 3 star tier starts at £579.

14 nights luxury Umrah package, from £825 per person

Eight Makkah, six Madinah. Two full weeks.

The best value per night of any duration we sell, at every tier. On the luxury standard tier you’re paying £59 a night against £99 a night for the 7 night package, and that’s the same hotel and the same flights.

Works well against the Christmas break, which runs roughly 18 December to 5 January in England and Wales, and against the Scottish summer holiday which starts mid to late June, several weeks before the rest of the UK. A 14 nights Umrah package at 3 star level starts at £625.

Everything below is in the price. Nothing on this list is an add-on we spring on you later.

Return flights from your UK airport

Manchester, Heathrow, Gatwick, Birmingham, Leeds Bradford, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Luton, Stansted and the rest. Direct services to Jeddah run from Manchester, Heathrow and Birmingham. Everywhere else connects, usually through Istanbul, Doha, Dubai or Jeddah itself.

On luxury bookings we default to the shortest total travel time rather than the cheapest fare, because a nine hour layover in Doha with three children undoes a lot of what you paid for.

Umrah visa through the official Saudi system

Processed on the Nusuk platform, which is the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah’s own portal. Every legitimate UK agency uses it. We handle the submission and track it through to approval, usually four to seven working days.

You send us three things by WhatsApp: passport with at least six months left from your travel date, a passport photo, and your meningococcal ACWY certificate. That’s it.

Named hotel, named room category, distance in metres and the nearest gate, all in writing before you pay your balance. If we can’t confirm the exact property yet we tell you the shortlist and the guaranteed maximum distance rather than writing 5 star hotel or similar and hoping.

Airport to hotel on arrival, the intercity leg between Makkah and Madinah, and the return to the airport. Shared air-conditioned coach as standard, private vehicle on the Haram Facing and Kaaba View tiers.

One person from your first message to your return flight. They build the quote, chase the visa, and answer the phone at 3am Makkah time when your mother’s luggage hasn’t come off the belt. They already know your booking. You don’t have to explain it again.

Luxury upgrades: what’s worth paying for and what isn’t

We sell all of these. We’d still rather you spent the money where it does something.

Worth it: private transfers

A shared coach at Jeddah waits until it fills. That can be ninety minutes after you clear immigration, and immigration itself can run long. Private car means you’re at the hotel while the coach is still loading. Roughly £90 to £140 per vehicle each way. If you’re four people it’s the best forty pounds a head you’ll spend on the whole trip.

Worth it: the Haram Facing tier over Luxury Standard

Going from 400 metres to under 200 changes how many times a day you go back to the room. That compounds over ten days into a meaningfully different trip, especially in summer and especially if anyone in the group is over sixty five.

Worth it, but only sometimes: Kaaba view

For a first Umrah, or for a parent who has waited forty years to get there, waking up with the Kaaba in the window is worth the money and we won’t pretend otherwise. For a fourth Umrah where you’re going to be in the mosque from Fajr until late anyway, you’re paying around £270 per person to look at something you’ll be standing next to. Your call, but that’s the honest arithmetic.

Usually not worth it: business class

It’s a six to seven hour flight to Jeddah, often overnight. Business class typically adds £700 to £1,400 per person return from the UK. The same money moves a family of four from Zone 3 to Zone 1 for ten nights. We can book business class and sometimes we do, mostly for pilgrims with mobility or back problems where the flat bed genuinely matters. As a comfort purchase it’s poor value against what else that money buys.

Usually not worth it: full board

Makkah and Madinah are full of food, much of it good and most of it cheap, and half the point of being there is eating at odd hours around prayer times rather than sitting down to a hotel buffet at seven. Take breakfast. Skip the rest unless mobility makes leaving the hotel difficult.

Depends: meet and greet at Jeddah

Around £40 to £60 per person for someone to walk you through immigration. Genuinely useful if you’re travelling alone with elderly parents or with several small children. Skip it if you’re two adults who’ve flown before.

Luxury Umrah for elderly parents

This is the single most common reason UK families call us about a luxury package. Somebody’s mother is seventy eight, this is probably her last chance, and the family is pooling money to do it properly.

A few things we’ve learned doing these bookings.

Distance beats everything, including the room

Given a fixed budget, put it into Zone 1 with a city view room rather than Zone 3 with a Kaaba view. The view is lovely for twenty minutes a day. The walk happens five times.

Wheelchair access at the Haram

Wheelchairs are available at the mosque and there are dedicated Tawaf areas on the upper levels where the circuit is longer but far less crowded. Pushing someone at ground level in the Mataf during peak hours is difficult and sometimes unsafe. Plan for the upper level from the start rather than discovering it on day two.

Pick the month around the weather, not the price

November through February keeps Makkah between roughly 20 and 30 degrees. June through August runs 40 plus. For a pilgrim in their late seventies that difference decides whether they attend two prayers a day or five.

Book 12 or 14 nights, not 7

It sounds counterintuitive when the person is frail. It isn’t. A longer trip means nobody has to do everything at once. Miss Fajr on day three, rest, go the next morning instead. On a 7 night package every missed prayer feels like a loss.

Luxury family Umrah packages

Family bookings are where the Clock Tower complex earns its money, because the covered route from hotel to gate means you’re not crossing open ground with a pushchair in the heat.

Room configuration

Quad sharing is the standard rate and it means four people in a room, usually two doubles. Fine for a couple with two children. Less fine for two adult siblings and their parents. Connecting rooms are the answer and Pullman ZamZam handles them better than most of the complex.

Children’s pricing

Under-twos travel as infants on a lap for a nominal fare. Two to eleven get a reduced rate when sharing with two adults. Twelve and over pay adult. Tell us the exact ages when you enquire because the difference between an eleven year old and a twelve year old is a few hundred pounds.

When to go with school-age children

October half term is the best week of the UK school year for Umrah. Makkah sits around 30 to 35 degrees, crowds are moderate, and prices haven’t moved yet. Christmas is milder still but costs more because every UK family is trying to travel. August is affordable and hot enough that small children struggle.

Do children need to perform Umrah

Umrah isn’t obligatory for children who haven’t reached puberty, but many families have them perform it and there’s nothing wrong with that. Practically speaking, a child in Ihram in a crowd needs one adult whose only job is that child.

Luxury Umrah in Ramadan

Umrah performed during Ramadan carries the reward of Hajj according to an authenticated hadith reported in Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim. That’s why Ramadan pricing behaves the way it does.

What it costs

Expect Ramadan luxury packages to run 40 to 70 per cent above the off-peak figures on this page, and the last ten nights to run higher again. A Kaaba view room for the final ten nights is the single most expensive thing in Umrah travel.

When to book

Ramadan 2027 begins in the region of 8 February 2027, subject to moon sighting. For the first twenty nights, book by roughly September 2026. For the last ten, book now. Kaaba view inventory for Laylat al-Qadr disappears earlier than any other date in the year.

What it’s actually like

Honest version. The Haram fills hours before Maghrib. During the last ten nights the courtyard, the upper levels and the surrounding streets all fill, and if you arrive after Asr you may not get inside the building at all. This is precisely why proximity stops being a comfort question in Ramadan and becomes an access question. A room 150 metres away means you go back after Taraweeh, sleep, and return for Qiyam. A room a kilometre away means you don’t.

Iftar at the Haram

Free iftar is laid out across the mosque floor daily, and volunteers will pull you down to join them whether you planned to or not. It’s one of the better things that happens to people in Ramadan. Don’t book full board and then miss it.

Which gate will I use?

Depends on your hotel. Clock Tower guests use King Abdulaziz Gate, also called Gate 1. Jabal Omar guests use King Fahd Gate on the western side. We name the gate in every quote.

Why does the gate matter?

Because the distance to the building isn’t the distance to the Kaaba. Some gates open onto upper levels, so you walk further inside the mosque than the brochure figure suggests.

Do the Clock Tower hotels connect to the Haram indoors?

They connect through the Abraj Al Bait mall, so most of the route is covered and air conditioned. You cross open ground for the last stretch.

Are Makkah 5 star hotels the same standard as UK 5 star hotels?

Not always. Makkah classifications are issued locally and the emphasis is on location and capacity rather than spa facilities and fine dining. A Makkah 5 star is usually excellent on service and rooms and light on the extras a European 5 star would have.

Which Madinah hotels do you use for luxury packages?

Should I spend more on the Makkah hotel or the Madinah hotel?

Makkah. The proximity premium in Madinah is much smaller and you spend more of your Madinah time inside the mosque anyway.

Can I pick my own hotel?

Yes. Tell us the property and we price it. If we can’t get it for your dates we’ll say so rather than substituting quietly.

Will you tell me the hotel name before I pay?

Yes, in writing, with the room category, the distance in metres and the gate. If a property isn’t confirmed yet we give you the shortlist and a guaranteed maximum distance.

Rooms, views and what the words mean

What’s the difference between Haram view and Kaaba view?

Haram view means you can see part of the mosque complex. Kaaba view means direct line of sight to the Kaaba itself. They are different room categories at different prices.

Can I get a Kaaba view room?

Yes, at the Fairmont and one or two other Clock Tower properties. From £1,149 per person for 7 nights. They sell out four to six months ahead and much earlier for Ramadan.

Which floors have the best Kaaba view?

Higher is better. In the Clock Tower the view opens up from roughly the twentieth floor upward.

Is a Kaaba view room worth the money?

For a first Umrah or for an elderly parent, usually yes. For a repeat trip where you’ll be in the mosque most of the day, you’re paying around £270 per person for a view of something you’re standing beside.

What does city view mean?

No view of the mosque. It’s the cheapest category in a luxury hotel and there’s nothing wrong with it if you’re only sleeping in the room.

Can I upgrade the room after I arrive?

Sometimes, at the hotel’s discretion and at hotel rack rates, which are higher than package rates. Book the category you want up front.

Do luxury rooms have prayer facilities?

Every hotel room in Makkah and Madinah has a Qibla marker and a prayer mat. The 5 star properties also have prayer rooms on site.

Is breakfast included?

Yes on Haram Facing and Kaaba View. Included at most Luxury Standard hotels but not all, so we confirm it per property in your quote.

How many nights

Is 7 nights enough for a luxury Umrah?

Yes. Seven nights covers every ritual plus the Rawdah and the main Madinah Ziyarat. Most UK pilgrims with full time jobs book exactly this.

What’s the usual split for a 7 nights Umrah package?

Four nights Makkah, three Madinah. We can flip it to five and two if you’d rather have more time at the Haram.

Why do you recommend 10 nights?

Six nights in Makkah lets you perform Tawaf at four genuinely different times of day. Four nights doesn’t, because you spend the first two adjusting.

What’s the split on a 10 nights Umrah package?

Six Makkah, four Madinah.

Who should book 12 nights?

Retired pilgrims, extended families with older members, and anyone on a career break. Seven nights Makkah, five Madinah.

Is 14 nights too long?

Not if you can take the leave. It’s the cheapest per night at every tier and it removes all the time pressure. Eight Makkah, six Madinah.

Can I do a shorter trip than 7 nights?

We can arrange 3, 4 and 5 night trips. They’re rarely better value once you account for the flight cost, which doesn’t change.

How many nights should I spend in Madinah?

Three at minimum, four or five if you can. Less than three and you’re rushing the Rawdah and the Ziyarat sites.

Do you do 3 star packages in these durations too?

Flights and getting there

Which UK airports do you fly from?

All the major ones. Manchester, Heathrow, Gatwick, Birmingham, Leeds Bradford, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Luton and Stansted among others.

Are there direct flights to Jeddah from the UK?

Yes, from Manchester, Heathrow and Birmingham. Everywhere else connects, usually through Istanbul, Doha, Dubai or Jeddah.

Should I fly into Jeddah or Madinah?

Depends which city you want first. Flying into Jeddah puts you in Makkah the same day. Flying into Madinah is the calmer start and lets you arrive in Ihram later.

How long is the flight?

About six and a half hours direct to Jeddah. Nine to fourteen with a connection depending on the layover.

How far is Jeddah airport from Makkah?

Around 90 kilometres, roughly an hour to ninety minutes by road depending on traffic and time of day.

How do I get from Makkah to Madinah?

Included in every package. Air conditioned coach as standard, about four and a half hours by road. Private car on the higher tiers.

Do you book business class?

Yes if you want it. We usually advise against it on value grounds unless someone has mobility or back problems, because the same money buys a much better hotel for the whole group.

Can I choose the airline?

Yes. Tell us at quote stage and we’ll price your preference alongside the fastest routing.

What’s the baggage allowance?

Varies by carrier, typically 30 to 40 kilograms in economy on the Gulf and Saudi carriers. Confirmed in your travel pack.

Visa, documents and rules

How do I get an Umrah visa?

We do it for you through Nusuk, the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah’s official platform. Four to seven working days is standard.

What documents do I need?

A UK passport with at least six months validity from your travel date, a recent passport photo, and a meningococcal ACWY vaccination certificate. All sent by WhatsApp.

Where do I get the meningococcal ACWY vaccine?

Your NHS GP, or a private travel clinic including many high street pharmacy travel services. Allow ten to fourteen days between the jab and your flight.

Is the vaccine compulsory?

Yes. Saudi Arabia requires proof of ACWY vaccination for Umrah entry. No certificate, no visa.

How long is an Umrah visa valid?

Current Umrah visas are valid for 90 days from issue with a maximum 90 day stay, and you can travel anywhere in Saudi Arabia on them.

Can I do Umrah on a Saudi tourist visa?

Yes, holders of a Saudi tourist visa may perform Umrah. Rules change, so confirm the current position with us before you rely on it.

What if my passport isn’t British?

Not a problem as long as you have UK residency. We handle non-UK passports regularly. Tell us the nationality at enquiry because processing times differ.

Do I need travel insurance?

Strongly recommended and worth getting. Look for cover on cancellation, medical treatment and repatriation. Several UK insurers do Umrah-specific policies.

How early should I send my documents?

Two to three weeks before departure for normal dates. Four weeks or more for Ramadan and December.

What if my visa is refused?

Rare, and usually a document issue we can fix and resubmit. We tell you immediately and walk you through it.

Elderly pilgrims, families and accessibility

Which package is best for elderly parents?

Haram Facing or Kaaba View, so under 200 metres, on a 12 or 14 night duration, travelling between November and February.

Are wheelchairs available at the Haram?

Yes, at the mosque itself. There are also dedicated Tawaf areas on the upper levels where the circuit is longer but far less crowded, which is much safer for pushing someone.

Can someone perform Tawaf in a wheelchair?

Yes. Upper level Tawaf is designed for it. The circuit is longer because the radius is bigger, so allow more time.

My mother can’t walk far. What do you recommend?

Zone 1 hotel, private transfers both ways, upper level Tawaf, and a longer duration so nothing has to be done in a rush. Tell us the mobility situation before we quote, not after.

Do you arrange medical support?

We can’t provide medical care, but we’ll pick hotels close to the Haram clinics, brief you on the on-site medical facilities and note any conditions on your booking. Bring a written list of medications with generic names.

Is Umrah suitable for young children?

Plenty of families do it. Practically, each child in Ihram needs one adult whose only job is that child, and the covered route from a Clock Tower hotel makes a real difference with a pushchair.

Do children have to perform Umrah?

No. It isn’t obligatory before puberty. Many families have children perform it anyway and that’s perfectly fine.

Can we get connecting rooms?

Yes. Pullman ZamZam handles connecting configurations better than most of the Clock Tower complex, so that’s usually where we look first for larger families.

Ramadan and timing

Is Umrah in Ramadan really equal to Hajj?

The Prophet, peace be upon him, said that Umrah in Ramadan is equivalent to Hajj in reward. It’s reported in Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim. It does not remove the obligation to perform Hajj itself.

When is Ramadan 2027?

It begins around 8 February 2027, subject to moon sighting.

How much more does Ramadan cost?

Expect 40 to 70 per cent above off-peak, and higher again for the last ten nights.

When should I book for the last ten nights?

As early as you possibly can. Kaaba view inventory for that window sells out earlier than any other date in the calendar.

Is it worth paying for proximity in Ramadan?

More than at any other time. During the last ten nights the mosque, the courtyard and the surrounding streets all fill hours before Maghrib. A room 150 metres out means you can go back and return for Qiyam. A kilometre out means you can’t.

What’s the best month if I can’t do Ramadan?

October or November. Mild weather, low crowds, lowest prices.

Is August a bad time to go?

It’s hot, 38 to 45 degrees, and it’s the only window a lot of UK families with school-age children have. If you’re going in August, book Zone 1 and do your Tawaf at Fajr or after midnight.

When is the balance due?

Eight weeks before departure. Earlier bookings can usually be spread monthly, interest free.

Can I change my dates after booking?

Usually yes, subject to airline and hotel rules. Tell us as early as possible because the cost of a change rises sharply near departure.

What happens if my flight is delayed?

Message your named agent. They already have your booking, your hotel and your onward transfers in front of them and will rearrange the ground side.

Who do I contact while I’m in Saudi Arabia?

Do you do group bookings?

Women, groups and everything else

Can women perform Umrah without a Mahram?

Under current Saudi rules, women aged 18 and over may perform Umrah as part of an organised group without a Mahram. Confirm the position with us for your specific travel date because this has changed before.

What should women wear?

There’s no prescribed Ihram garment for women. Loose, modest clothing that covers everything except the face and hands. Comfortable shoes matter more than most people expect.

Are Rawdah visiting hours different for women?

Yes, women’s access to the Rawdah runs in separate timed sessions and there are fewer of them, so book the Nusuk permit as early as you can.

Can I perform Umrah more than once on one trip?

Yes. Return to the nearest Miqat, most people use Masjid Aisha at Taneem which is a few kilometres out, re-enter Ihram and come back.

Can I add a holiday to my Umrah?
