Easter Umrah Packages: Book Early and Save

Easter 2027 is the best school holiday window UK families have had in years. And the honest answer on booking early is that the urgency is smaller than you might expect.

Why the price argument is weak here

Easter 2027 falls entirely inside the post-Ramadan collapse. Good Friday is 26 March, and the whole break sits in the stretch where demand has just left the market and prices are already at the floor of £499.

There is not much room for it to rise, because there is nothing pushing it up.

What does run out

The hotel. In a school holiday week the close-in properties go earlier than the surrounding weeks even when the price does not move, and that is the genuine reason to book by December rather than March.

Why we are telling you this

Because we published a piece last week saying Ramadan needs booking nine to twelve months ahead, and that is true. Easter is the opposite case and saying so is the only way the Ramadan advice means anything.

The short version

Easter 2027 runs 26 March to 9 April for most English authorities. Scottish and Welsh dates differ.

It sits entirely inside the post-Ramadan window at the floor price of £499.

Book early for the hotel, not the price. The price has very little room to rise.

Makkah runs 25 to 33 degrees. Comfortable throughout.

It is the second best school holiday in the UK calendar after October half term, and in 2027 it may be the best.

Why Easter 2027 is so good

The alignment

Ramadan 2027 begins around 8 February and ends around 9 March with Eid. Easter falls on 28 March.

Which places the entire Easter holiday inside the fortnight-and-a-bit after the Ramadan crowd goes home, when the city empties and prices collapse.

The verdict

On temperature Easter 2027 beats October half term. On price they tie. On crowds October is marginally quieter and Easter has just had a mass departure, which is close.

In most years October half term is the best school holiday for Umrah. In 2027, Easter is at least its equal and possibly better.

And the specific reason it matters this year

Because February half term 2027 falls inside Ramadan at £825. The window British families normally use for a winter escape is not available at normal pricing.

Easter is the replacement, and it is a considerably better one. Detail in our February guide.

Book early for the hotel, not the price

The honest mechanism, and it is different to every peak window.

Why the price will not move much

Easter sits in the post-Ramadan collapse. Demand from every other origin has already gone, and a UK school holiday alone is not enough to lift a market that has just emptied.

So a booking made in December and a booking made in February will be at similar prices. Not identical, and close.

What will move

Which hotel you get. The close-in properties in a school holiday week are taken earlier than in the surrounding weeks, because everybody with children is looking at the same fortnight.

The specific thing that runs out

  • Properties under five hundred metres, which go first
  • Quad rooms, which every family wants
  • Connecting rooms, which are the constraint for larger families
  • Direct flights on the weekend the holiday starts
  • The weekend departures either side of Good Friday

What that means practically

Book by December for the hotel you wanted. Book by February and you will get a hotel, at a similar price, further out.

And the honest limit

Even a late Easter booking is workable in a way a late Ramadan booking is not. At 25 to 33 degrees a hotel at eight hundred metres is a comfortable walk, so being further out costs you convenience rather than the trip.

That is the whole difference between the two windows.

Easter against Ramadan, on booking

The comparison worth understanding, because the advice is genuinely opposite.

Why Ramadan is urgent and Easter is not

Ramadan concentrates global demand on a finite number of close-in rooms, in a window where distance decides whether you can reach the mosque at all.

Easter concentrates British demand on a two week window, in a month where the market has just emptied and the weather makes distance a preference rather than a constraint.

What that means for you

If you are choosing between the two, the Ramadan decision needs making a year ahead and the Easter one needs making four months ahead.

And if you want both

Book Ramadan first, always, because it is the one that closes. Easter will still be there when you come back to it.

The Ramadan booking timeline in full is in a separate post.

Easter moves, and that changes everything

The 35 day window

Easter is not a fixed date. It falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon on or after 21 March, which means it moves within a window from 22 March to 25 April.

A five week range, and the school holidays move with it.

2028

14 April

16 April

Most English authorities in 2027 show holidays running 26 March to 9 April. Scottish and Welsh dates differ and some authorities structure the break differently, so check your own.

Why the movement matters

Because where Easter falls relative to Ramadan decides what kind of window it is.

In 2027 Ramadan ends around 9 March and Easter begins on 26 March, so the holiday sits in the sweet part of the post-Ramadan collapse.

The trend

Ramadan moves about eleven days earlier each year while Easter moves within its own window. So for the next several years Easter continues to fall well after Ramadan, which keeps it in the cheap spring stretch.

The practical point

If you are planning more than a year out, ask where Easter sits relative to Ramadan that year rather than assuming this year repeats. It is the same lesson as everything else in this calendar.

And the one thing that does not move

October half term. It is set by the school calendar rather than by a lunar or solar calculation, which is why it is the most reliable family window year after year.

Detail in our October guide.

What the two weeks actually look like

The weather

Makkah at 25 to 33 degrees, warming slightly across the fortnight. Comfortable for walking at every hour except the middle of the afternoon toward the end.

Madinah is milder and the winter night cold has gone, so the jumper you needed in January stays at home. A light layer for early mornings is enough.

The Haram

The calmest since November. The Ramadan crowd left within seventy-two hours of Eid and nothing has replaced it.

Which means ground floor Tawaf at your own pace, and for a family with children that is the difference between a good trip and a stressful one.

What that lets you do with children

Perform Tawaf without being carried by a crowd. Take a break and come back. Let a child walk rather than carrying them the whole way.

None of that is possible in Ramadan or the summer, and it is the reason Easter is a genuinely good family window rather than merely an affordable one.

Ziyarat

Excellent. Most of the Makkah itinerary is standing outside at unshaded sites, which is pleasant at 28 degrees and an endurance exercise in July.

March and October are the two best months for it and Easter 2027 sits right at the end of the better one. Detail on the Ziyarat page.

The Rawdah

Competition drops sharply once the Ramadan crowd leaves. Permits are free through the Nusuk app and considerably easier to secure in this window than at any point in the preceding two months.

The prayer window

Around ten hours between Isha and Fajr. Long enough that attending all five prayers at the mosque with children is genuinely sustainable across a fortnight.

What to book

The length

The Easter holiday is two full weeks, which is unusual. Most school breaks are one.

That means ten or fourteen nights is possible without missing a day of school, and at 25 to 33 degrees a fortnight with children is genuinely manageable.

Not for the heat, which is manageable, but for the ability to take a tired child back to the room mid-afternoon without it being a fifteen minute walk.

The £130 step roughly halves your walk and removes the shuttle timetable, which with a pushchair matters more than the weather does. Detail in our four star post.

Why fourteen nights with teenagers

Because they cope with the walking, the weather is comfortable throughout, and £625 for a fortnight is £45 a night. It is the best value booking in the window.

The one thing to check

Room configuration. Six people do not fit in a quad and five usually do not, so a larger family needs two rooms and connecting rooms are worth requesting specifically.

Which is different to Ramadan

Where booking late means the window is effectively closed rather than compromised. Easter degrades gracefully and Ramadan does not.

The visa timing

We submit six to seven weeks before departure, because the single-entry Umrah visa gives only 30 days from issue to enter Saudi Arabia.

The vaccine

Book the ACWY appointment as soon as you pay your deposit. It is a visa requirement, the certificate must be dated at least ten days before you arrive, and GP waits lengthen through the winter.

The permits

Book your Umrah and Rawdah permits through Nusuk the day your visa is approved. Post-Ramadan competition is low, which is one of the quiet advantages of this window.

Late availability

Reasonable, unusually for a school holiday. If you are looking inside eight weeks, the balance is already due so it needs paying in full. See the last minute page.

Who Easter suits

Families who could not use February half term

The largest group in 2027, because half term fell inside Ramadan at £825. Easter is £326 per person cheaper with an emptier Haram and comparable weather.

Families with young children

Comfortable weather, a calm Haram and a two week holiday. The three things that make travelling with small children workable, all in one window.

Anyone wanting a fortnight

One of the few school holidays long enough for a proper fourteen night trip without taking children out of school.

Anyone who wants Ziyarat

Late March is among the best conditions of the year for it, and the sites have just emptied after Eid.

First-time pilgrims with children

A calm Haram is a much better place to learn the rites, and doing it with children in a manageable crowd is considerably easier than in Ramadan or August.

Who it does not suit

Anyone who wanted Ramadan itself, which finished a fortnight earlier. And anyone without school-age children, who should look at term time in the same window and pay the same price with more availability.

The term time alternative

Worth saying, because for some families it is the better answer.

The window

The fortnight between Eid and the start of the Easter holidays, roughly 11 to 25 March 2027. Same price, same weather, emptier still, and broader hotel availability.

Why it is better on availability

Because it is term time. No school holiday competing for the close-in properties, so you get the hotel you wanted rather than the one that was left.

The cost

Taking children out of school, which is a decision between you and your school and not one we would advise on.

Who it suits

Families with pre-school children, families where taking a few days is straightforward, and anyone without school-age children at all.

What we would say

If you can travel in term time, the fortnight before Easter is the best value in the calendar. If you cannot, Easter itself is the next best thing and it is genuinely close.

Detail on that fortnight in our March guide.

The summary

Easter 2027 is exceptionally well placed

It falls entirely inside the post-Ramadan collapse at the floor price, with comfortable weather and an emptied Haram, across two full weeks.

Book early for the hotel, not the price

The price has very little room to rise because the market has already emptied. What runs out is the close-in properties, the quad rooms and the connecting rooms.

The urgency is genuinely smaller than Ramadan

Ramadan needs nine to twelve months and closes properly. Easter needs four and degrades gracefully. Book Ramadan first if you want both.

It replaces February half term this year

Which fell inside Ramadan at £825. Easter is £326 per person cheaper and a considerably better trip.

And if you can take term time

The fortnight before Easter is the same price with more availability. Easter itself is the next best thing and it is close.

Booking Easter: 53 questions answered

Grouped by topic. Direct answer first. School holiday dates vary by authority and nation, so check your own.

The urgency question

Do I need to book Easter early?

For the hotel, yes. For the price, much less than you would think.

Why will the price not rise much?

Because Easter 2027 sits inside the post-Ramadan collapse, where demand has already left and prices are at the floor.

So what actually runs out?

Close-in properties, quad rooms, connecting rooms, and direct flights on the weekend the holiday starts.

When should I book?

By December for the hotel you wanted. By February you still get a trip, at a similar price, further out.

Is a further hotel a problem at Easter?

Not really. At 25 to 33 degrees a hotel at eight hundred metres is a comfortable walk.

How is that different to Ramadan?

Ramadan closes properly. Easter degrades gracefully. Being further out costs you convenience rather than the trip.

Why are you telling me not to rush?

Because we said Ramadan needs nine to twelve months and that is true. Saying Easter does not is the only way the Ramadan advice means anything.

Easter 2027

When is Easter 2027?

Good Friday is 26 March and Easter Sunday is 28 March.

When are the school holidays?

Most English authorities show 26 March to 9 April. Scottish and Welsh dates differ and some authorities structure it differently.

Why is Easter 2027 so good?

Ramadan ends around 9 March, so the whole holiday sits in the fortnight-and-a-bit after the crowd goes home.

What does that get me?

The floor price of £499, 25 to 33 degrees, the calmest Haram since November, and two full weeks.

How does it compare to October half term?

Cooler than October, identically priced, and October is marginally quieter. In most years October wins. In 2027 they are at least equal.

Why does it matter more this year?

Because February half term 2027 fell inside Ramadan at £825, so the usual winter escape was not available at normal pricing.

How much cheaper than February half term?

£326 per person, or £1,304 for a family of four.

Easter against Ramadan

Which should I book first?

Ramadan, always, because it is the one that closes. Easter will still be there when you come back to it.

How much lead does Ramadan need?

Nine to twelve months for the last ten nights, six to nine for the rest.

And Easter?

Four months, by December.

Why the difference?

Ramadan concentrates global demand on finite close-in rooms in a window where distance decides whether you reach the mosque at all.

Who am I competing with at Easter?

Other British families, in a month where the market has just emptied.

Does the Easter price rise steeply?

Barely. The Ramadan price does, and that is the practical difference.

Easter moving

Why does Easter move?

It falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon on or after 21 March, so it moves within a window from 22 March to 25 April.

When is Easter 2028?

Good Friday is 14 April and Easter Sunday is 16 April.

Why does the movement matter?

Because where Easter falls relative to Ramadan decides what kind of window it is.

Will Easter stay in the cheap window?

Ramadan moves about eleven days earlier each year, so Easter continues to fall well after it for the next several years.

What should I do if planning far ahead?

Ask where Easter sits relative to Ramadan that year rather than assuming this year repeats.

Which school holiday does not move?

October half term, which is set by the school calendar. That is why it is the most reliable family window year after year.

The two weeks themselves

What is the weather like?

Makkah at 25 to 33 degrees, warming slightly across the fortnight. Comfortable at every hour except mid-afternoon toward the end.

Do I need warm clothes?

A light layer for early mornings. The winter night cold in Madinah has gone.

How busy is the Haram?

The calmest since November. The Ramadan crowd left within seventy-two hours of Eid and nothing has replaced it.

What does that mean with children?

Tawaf without being carried by a crowd, taking a break and coming back, and letting a child walk rather than carrying them.

Is Ziyarat good in this window?

Excellent. Most of the itinerary is standing outside at unshaded sites, which is pleasant at 28 degrees.

Are Rawdah permits easier?

Considerably. Competition drops sharply once the Ramadan crowd leaves.

How long are the nights?

Around ten hours between Isha and Fajr, so attending all five prayers with children is sustainable across a fortnight.

What to book

How long is the Easter holiday?

Two full weeks, which is unusual. Most school breaks are one.

Can I take fourteen nights?

Without missing a day of school, yes. At 25 to 33 degrees a fortnight with children is genuinely manageable.

What should a family with young children book?

Ten nights at four star, £679. Close enough that afternoons are easy.

Why four star for young children?

Not for the heat but for the ability to take a tired child back without a fifteen minute walk and a shuttle wait.

What about teenagers?

Fourteen nights at three star, £625, at £45 a night. The best value booking in the window.

What if we are five or six people?

You need two rooms, and connecting rooms are worth requesting specifically. Ask at the enquiry rather than on arrival.

What is the cheapest option?

Seven nights at three star, £499.

The term time alternative

Is there a better window than Easter?

The fortnight before it, roughly 11 to 25 March. Same price, same weather, emptier, and broader hotel availability.

Why is availability better?

Because it is term time, so no school holiday is competing for the close-in properties.

What is the cost?

Taking children out of school, which is a decision between you and your school.

Who does it suit?

Families with pre-school children, families where a few days is straightforward, and anyone without school-age children.

What would you recommend?

Term time if you can. Easter if you cannot, and it is genuinely close.

Prices and practical

What does Easter cost?

From £499 for seven nights at three star, £629 at four and £690 at five.

What are the per night figures?

£71 at seven nights, £55 at ten and £45 at fourteen.

How much do I save against August?

£200 per person, or £800 for a family of four, and thirteen degrees.

And against Christmas?

£300 per person, or £1,200 for a family of four.

When do you submit the visa?

Six to seven weeks before departure, because the single-entry visa gives only 30 days from issue to enter.

When should I get the vaccine?

As soon as you pay your deposit. GP waits lengthen through the winter.

What is the deposit?

£99 per person, and it fixes your price in writing.

Is there late availability?

Reasonable, unusually for a school holiday. Inside eight weeks the balance is due in full.
