Most people who ask us this already have what they are asking for, and it is worth saying that before anything else.
Every headline price in this market is quoted on quad sharing, which means four people to a room. That phrase makes people picture being allocated a bed alongside strangers.
For the overwhelming majority of bookings, that is not what it means. If you are a family of four, quad sharing means your own four people in your own room. Nobody else is coming in. You already have a private room and you are already paying the lowest price on the list.
Allocated sharing, where a solo traveller or a couple is placed into a room with other pilgrims to make up the numbers. That is a real product, it is sold by some operators, and it is a completely different thing.
We do not do it unless you specifically ask us to. If you book with us as two people, you get a room for two people.
The short version Quad sharing with your own family is a private room. You are not sharing with strangers. A twin or double for two people adds roughly £180 to £340 per person over the quad rate. A single room for one person is the genuinely expensive one, because the room cost is not divided at all. Some people need a private room for medical reasons rather than preference, and there is a section on that. A family of five or six needs two rooms, and that changes the arithmetic more than any tier upgrade would. |
Ask what your actual room configuration would be
Four people you already know, in one room, usually two double beds. This is how the overwhelming majority of Umrah packages are sold and it is the basis of every headline price you will see anywhere.
A family of four. Four friends. Two couples travelling together. In every one of those cases, quad sharing is a private room and the word sharing is doing something misleading.
A different product entirely. A solo traveller or a couple is placed into a room with other pilgrims the operator is also placing, to fill the room and hold the price down.
It exists, it is legitimate when it is described clearly, and it is what people are picturing when they ask about privacy.
One question. Is the quoted price based on my own party occupying the room, or on sharing with other travellers?
A quote that cannot answer that clearly is one to check further before you pay anything.
Every quote we send states the room configuration and who is in it. We do not place people with strangers unless they have specifically asked us to, and if you are a party of two we quote a room for two.
If you are a family of four and somebody has told you that avoiding sharing costs extra, ask them what they mean. You may be being sold a supplement for something you already have.
Seven nights, off-peak, per person. Indicative figures that vary by property and season, so treat them as the shape rather than a tariff.
Configuration | People in the room | From | Supplement |
|---|---|---|---|
Quad | 4 | £499 | Baseline |
Triple | 3 | From £579 | +£80 |
Twin or double | 2 | From £679 | +£180 |
Single occupancy | 1 | From £949 | +£450 |
Configuration | People in the room | From | Supplement |
|---|---|---|---|
Quad | 4 | £629 | Baseline |
Triple | 3 | From £719 | +£90 |
Twin or double | 2 | From £849 | +£220 |
Single occupancy | 1 | From £1,179 | +£550 |
Configuration | People in the room | From | Supplement |
|---|---|---|---|
Quad | 4 | £690 | Baseline |
Triple | 3 | From £789 | +£99 |
Twin or double | 2 | From £929 | +£239 |
Single occupancy | 1 | From £1,289 | +£599 |
The supplement is not really a charge for privacy. It is the room cost being divided between fewer people.
A room that costs the same whoever is in it, split four ways, gives you the quad rate. Split two ways it doubles. Not split at all, it lands entirely on you.
Because it is not a penalty. It is arithmetic, and every operator in the market faces the same arithmetic.
Three people in a room designed for four costs around eighty to a hundred pounds each more than the quad rate. For a family of three that is the correct booking and hardly anybody asks for it, because triple is rarely advertised.
The most underserved case in Umrah travel and the one this page exists for.
You are travelling alone. Every price you see assumes three other people are paying toward your room and you do not have three other people.
From around £949 at three star for seven nights, against £499 quad. You get a room to yourself and complete certainty about who is in it.
Cheaper, and you are with people you have not met. Some travellers find this genuinely good and describe the company as part of the trip. Others find it difficult, particularly on a fortnight.
If you choose this, ask specifically: same gender, how many to a room, and whether you will be told in advance who else is in it.
The option people forget. Mosque groups, community trips and family parties frequently have a spare place in a room, and joining one puts you back on the quad rate.
Tell us you are travelling alone at the enquiry and we will tell you whether we have a group going on your dates with space.
Try option three first, because it costs you nothing to ask and it is the only one that avoids both the supplement and the uncertainty.
A solo traveller on a shorter trip in a cheaper month frequently ends up paying less in total than a couple on a longer trip. Do not assume travelling alone is unaffordable before you have a quote in front of you.
Under current Saudi rules, women aged eighteen and over may perform Umrah as part of an organised group without a Mahram. Confirm the position for your specific travel date.
Practically, the group route is usually also the answer to the room question, since it puts you into a party with existing room allocations. Tell us at the enquiry and we will handle both together.
A section we have written because people currently have to raise these things awkwardly on a phone call, and they should not have to.
A CPAP is not quiet, it needs a power socket by the bed, and it needs somewhere to sit. Sharing a room with three others while using one is difficult for everybody.
Tell us at the enquiry. It changes the room configuration we recommend and it is not something to raise for the first time at check-in.
If you are taking medication at fixed hours through the night, or you need a fridge in the room, a private room removes a genuine practical problem.
Not every three star property has a fridge as standard, so this is worth confirming for your specific hotel rather than assuming.
Nobody wants to explain this to a booking agent and it is a completely normal reason to want your own bathroom, particularly for older travellers on a fortnight.
You do not need to give us details. Saying a private room is needed for medical reasons is enough and we will not ask why.
Space to move, room for a walking frame, and somewhere to sit that is not a bed. Quad rooms are compact and four people with four suitcases leave very little floor.
Said plainly because it is a real reason. If you know you snore badly enough to keep three other people awake for a fortnight, a private room is a kindness to everybody and there is nothing embarrassing about booking one.
A family of four with a toddler is already in a private room, so this rarely needs a supplement. What it may need is a specific bed configuration, which is a different request and usually free.
One line at the enquiry: a private room is needed for medical reasons. We note it on the booking, we build the configuration around it, and nobody asks you to explain further.
Six people do not fit in a quad. Five usually do not either. So you need two rooms, and the per person arithmetic changes more than any tier upgrade would.
Two rooms for five people means one quad and one single, or a triple and a twin, depending on the property and who is comfortable with whom.
A triple plus a twin is usually the better configuration, because a single occupancy room carries the largest supplement in the range.
Five people frequently costs more in total than six, because six splits neatly into two triples while five leaves somebody in a room alone.
If you are a party of five and a sixth person is considering joining, that is worth mentioning to them.
Available at many properties and worth asking for specifically. Two rooms with a door between them is a materially different arrangement to two rooms on different floors, particularly with children.
It is not always possible and it costs nothing to request. Ask at the enquiry rather than on arrival.
Price the configurations rather than squeezing your party into whatever fits the headline rate. Tell us the exact make-up of the group, including ages, and we will build it properly.
An honest section, because we would rather you kept the money than paid us a supplement you did not need.
You are already in a private room at the lowest price on the list. There is nothing to buy.
The quad is not a compromise, it is the point. People who share on Umrah frequently describe the room as part of the experience, and the £180 to £340 each you would spend on twins buys something better elsewhere.
Spent on | What you get |
|---|---|
Twin rooms instead of a quad | Privacy you may not need |
A closer hotel | Halves your walk, ten times a day |
More nights | Three extra nights costs £46 at three star |
A better month | January over Christmas saves £300 anyway |
If you can share comfortably, share, and put the difference into proximity or nights. The room is where you sleep. The walk is what you do all day.
Any of the medical reasons above, a fortnight or longer where space starts to matter, or simply knowing yourself well enough to know that you will not rest otherwise.
Nobody has a good Umrah on four hours of broken sleep a night for two weeks.
Number two. It is the difference between the thing people fear and the thing they almost always actually have.
A rollaway bed squeezed into a twin is not the same as a room built for three, and both get called triple. For a party of three on a fortnight, that distinction is worth asking about.
The room configuration and who is in it, alongside the property name, the distance in metres and the nearest gate.
The full eight-item checklist for a complete package is on the flights and hotel page.
Tier | Quad | Triple | Twin or double | Single |
|---|---|---|---|---|
3 Star | £499 | From £579 | From £679 | From £949 |
4 Star | £629 | From £719 | From £849 | From £1,179 |
5 Star | £690 | From £789 | From £929 | From £1,289 |
Duration | 3 Star twin | 4 Star twin | 5 Star twin |
|---|---|---|---|
7 nights | From £679 | From £849 | From £929 |
10 nights | From £745 | From £909 | From £995 |
14 nights | From £845 | From £1,019 | From £1,095 |
Per person, off-peak departures. Includes return flights, both hotels named in writing with the distance in metres and the nearest gate, the Saudi Umrah visa, all three transfers and guided Ziyarat in both cities. Supplements vary by property and season, so we quote your actual figure rather than applying a fixed rule.
Supplements widen rather than staying constant, because rooms are scarcer and the operator has less room to absorb an unfilled bed. In the last ten nights of Ramadan a twin supplement can be considerably above the off-peak figure.
We check comparable UK packages every month and sit £20 under the lowest we can find for the same nights, tier and configuration. Make sure any quote you compare us against is on the same occupancy, or it is not a comparison at all.
You already have a private room. Quad sharing means your own party and there is nothing to buy.
A twin or double adds roughly £180 to £340 each over the quad rate, and you will not be placed with strangers unless you ask to be.
Ask about joining a group booking before you accept a single supplement. It is the only route that avoids both the cost and the uncertainty.
One line at the enquiry is enough. We will not ask you to explain.
Share, and put the money into a closer hotel or more nights. The room is where you sleep. The walk is what you do all day.
Tell us your party and we will price the configurations
Tier | 7 nights quad | 10 nights quad | 12 nights quad | 14 nights quad |
|---|---|---|---|---|
3 Star | From £499 | From £545 | From £579 | From £625 |
4 Star | From £629 | From £679 | From £715 | From £769 |
5 Star | From £690 | From £745 | From £790 | From £825 |
Per person, quad sharing, off-peak departures. Triple, twin and single occupancy quoted on request. Held with a £99 deposit that fixes your price in writing.
Grouped by topic. Direct answer first. Supplements vary by property and season, so treat figures as indicative and ask for a quote.
Not usually. If you are a family of four, it means your own four people in your own room.
If you are booking as a party of four, yes, and you are already on the lowest price on the list.
A different product where a solo traveller or couple is placed into a room with other pilgrims to fill it. It exists and it is not what most people are quoted.
Only if you specifically ask us to. If you book as two people, you get a room for two people.
Ask whether the price is based on your own party occupying the room or on sharing with other travellers.
Ask what they mean. If you are a family of four you may be being sold a supplement for something you already have.
Because it is the lowest per person figure and it is the market standard. It is not a statement about who you will be with.
Quad for four, triple for three, twin or double for two, and single occupancy for one.
Roughly £180 at three star, £220 at four star and £239 at five star, per person on a seven night trip.
Around £80 to £99 per person over the quad rate, depending on tier.
For a party of three, yes, and hardly anybody asks because triple is rarely advertised.
From around £949 at three star for seven nights, against £499 quad. The largest supplement in the range.
Because it is not a charge for privacy, it is the room cost landing entirely on one person rather than being divided.
Every operator faces the same arithmetic, so the shape is the same whoever you book with.
They widen, because rooms are scarcer and there is less room to absorb an unfilled bed.
Yes, and it is more common than people assume.
Pay the single supplement, ask to be placed in a shared room, or join a group booking that has a spare place.
The group booking. It costs nothing to ask and it avoids both the supplement and the uncertainty.
Mosque groups, community trips and family parties frequently have a spare bed in an existing room. Tell us you are alone and we will check what is going on your dates.
Same gender, how many people, and whether you will be told in advance who else is in it.
Plenty of solo travellers describe the company as part of the trip. Others find it difficult, particularly on a fortnight. It depends entirely on you.
Not necessarily. A solo traveller on a shorter trip in a cheap month frequently pays less in total than a couple on a longer one. Get a quote before assuming.
Under current Saudi rules, women aged eighteen and over may perform Umrah as part of an organised group without a Mahram. Confirm for your travel date.
Usually, because it puts you into a party with existing room allocations. Mention both at the enquiry and we handle them together.
Yes, and one line at the enquiry is enough. We will not ask you to explain.
Tell us. It needs a socket by the bed, somewhere to sit, and it is not quiet. It changes the configuration we recommend.
Tell us, because a fridge is not standard at every three star property and we will confirm it for your specific hotel.
A private room removes a genuine practical problem for you and for anybody else in the room.
A completely normal reason to want your own bathroom, particularly for older travellers on a longer trip. You do not need to give us details.
Quad rooms are compact and four people with four suitcases leave very little floor. Tell us and we build around it.
A genuine reason and nothing to be embarrassed about. A private room is a kindness to everybody.
Yes, so you do not have to raise it again at check-in.
No. Six do not fit in a quad and five usually do not either, so you need two rooms.
Usually a triple and a twin rather than a quad and a single, because single occupancy carries the largest supplement.
Frequently, yes, because six splits neatly into two triples while five leaves somebody alone.
If somebody is undecided, that arithmetic is worth mentioning to them.
Available at many properties and worth requesting specifically. Two rooms with a door between them is materially different to two rooms on separate floors.
It costs nothing to request. It is not always available, so ask at the enquiry rather than on arrival.
The exact make-up including ages, so we can price the configurations properly rather than squeezing you into the headline rate.
Usually not. The money does more spent on a closer hotel or extra nights.
Roughly the three star to four star step, which halves your walk. Or several extra nights.
For a lot of people, yes. Four friends in a quad frequently describe the room as part of the trip.
Any medical reason, a fortnight or longer where space starts to matter, or simply knowing you will not rest otherwise.
Nobody has a good Umrah on four hours of broken sleep a night for two weeks.
If you can share comfortably, share, and put the difference into proximity or nights. The room is where you sleep. The walk is what you do all day.
Is the room occupied by my own party or shared with other travellers.
A twin with an extra bed added rather than a room built for three. Both get called triple and they are different products.
Two doubles is a different arrangement to a double and two singles, particularly for a family with older children.
If you need one for medication, yes, because it is not standard at every three star.
The room configuration and who is in it, alongside the property name, the distance in metres and the nearest gate.
Make sure both are on the same occupancy. A quad price against a twin price is not a comparison.
£99 per person regardless of configuration, and it fixes your price in writing.
Usually, subject to availability, and easier the further out you are. Tell us early.
Sharing a quad with two others you know, if that is possible. Otherwise a twin at around £679 at three star for seven nights.
Joining a group booking on the quad rate, which is £499 at three star for seven nights.
From around £845 at three star, £1,019 at four star and £1,095 at five star.
Yes, because you are paying the undivided room cost for more nights.
Quoted per person, like everything else in this market.
No. We quote your actual figure for your property and dates rather than applying a rule.
Our full price guide covers every season and tier.
Send us the exact make-up of your group, including ages and anybody who needs a room to themselves, and we will price the configurations side by side.
If you are a family of four, we will probably tell you that you already have what you were asking for and that the money is better spent elsewhere. That is usually the right answer and it is the one nobody gives you.
