Ramadan Umrah Packages: Book Early and Save

Booking early for Ramadan saves you money, and that is the smaller half of it.

What it actually saves

The hotel. Ramadan is the one window in the calendar where how far you are from the Haram decides whether you get inside the building at all, and the close-in properties are committed six to twelve months ahead.

By the time the price becomes your problem, the proximity has already gone.

Why that is different to every other month

In August you compete with British families. In December you compete with British and European families. In Ramadan you compete with the entire Muslim world at once, for a finite number of rooms within walking distance of one building.

Which is why Ramadan needs three to four times the lead time of a normal month, and why the advice everywhere else on this site does not apply here.

The current position, honestly

Ramadan 2027 begins around 8 February, subject to moon sighting. That is roughly five and a half months away as this is written.

At that distance, the close-in properties for the last ten nights have largely gone. The first ten nights are tightening. The middle ten are still workable. There is a table below.

The short version

Booking early buys you the hotel first and the price second.

Ramadan competes globally, so it needs three to four times the lead of a normal month.

Last ten nights: book nine to twelve months ahead. First and middle ten: six to nine.

A £99 deposit fixes the price, and early booking turns £1,199 into about £110 a month rather than £550.

If you have left it late, the honest answer is the first ten nights rather than the last.

Ask what is still available for Ramadan

What booking early actually buys

The hotel, first

The most important thing and the one people realise too late.

In the last ten nights of Ramadan, roads around the Haram close to traffic for periods and hotel shuttles stop running or move their pick-up points. A hotel a kilometre out becomes a hotel you cannot easily reach the mosque from.

So proximity in that window is not a comfort upgrade. It is whether the trip works. And proximity is the thing that runs out first.

The price, second

Fares rise as departure approaches and Ramadan is no exception. A booking made nine months out is materially cheaper than the same booking made three months out.

And the £99 deposit fixes it. Whatever happens to fares between your deposit and your departure, you pay the figure on your confirmation.

The room configuration

Quad rooms go early in every peak window and Ramadan is the tightest of them. A family of five booking nine months ahead has options. The same family booking at eight weeks is frequently looking at two rooms and a different total.

The instalment option

Only available when you book four or more months ahead, and on a Ramadan package it matters more than on any other.

There is a section below with the figures, and the short version is that early booking turns a £1,199 package into about £110 a month rather than a single payment.

And the certainty

Ramadan dates depend on moon sighting and could move by a day. Booking early gives us the room to build your trip so it works either way, rather than gambling on one projection.

Reading that

The last ten nights runs out about three months earlier than the rest of the month, because that is where global demand concentrates.

The point of no return

Around three months out for the last ten nights. After that, what is available is far enough from the Haram that we would not recommend it in that specific window regardless of the price.

And the practical deadline

Eight weeks, for everything. Inside that the balance is already due, so a Ramadan booking needs paying in full rather than on a deposit.

That is not our rule. It is when the airline and hotel want their money and it applies whoever you book with. Detail on the last minute page.

What that means if you want the last ten nights

The properties under four hundred metres have largely been committed. What we can still offer is further out, and in that specific window a distant hotel is the wrong product at any price.

Our honest recommendation, at this distance, is the first ten nights instead. Same month, £450 less, manageable crowds, and the close-in hotels still available.

On the reward

Worth saying because it changes the decision. The reward for performing Umrah in Ramadan is widely understood to apply across the whole month rather than only the final ten days.

So the first ten nights is not a consolation. It is a full Ramadan Umrah at a considerably lower price with a considerably better hotel.

The underbooked window

The middle ten nights at £825. Busier than the first ten, cheaper than the last, and consistently overlooked because people default to one end of the month or the other.

And the one nobody considers

Eid and the fortnight after. Fourteen nights spanning Eid morning and the emptying city is £969, which works out at £69 a night. Detail on the Eid page.

Why Ramadan needs so much more lead time

The competition is global

In every other peak window you are competing with people from one or two origins. August is British and European families. December is the same. Even the summer peak is regional.

Ramadan is every Muslim country simultaneously, for the same fortnight, for rooms around one building.

The supply cannot grow

The Haram sits in a valley surrounded by hills. There is a finite amount of ground within walking distance and no way to create more.

Additional hotel supply keeps being built further out, which increases the number of rooms without increasing the number of close ones. Detail in our Makkah areas guide.

The demand concentrates

Not evenly across the month. The last ten nights carry a disproportionate share of it because of what those nights are, which is why that window runs out first and by the widest margin.

What that produces

The steepest pricing in the calendar. From £1,199 at three star to £1,749 at five star for the last ten nights, against £499 in January for the same trip.

And why we cannot do anything about it

Hotel rates in that window are set by owners in Makkah responding to global demand. No UK agency has influence over them and any operator implying otherwise is selling you something.

The full breakdown of where Ramadan money actually goes is in our price breakdown post.

The three windows, and their different deadlines

The last ten nights

Book by

Nine to twelve months ahead for a close-in property. Six months at the absolute latest.

What it costs

From £1,199 at three star, £1,449 at four and £1,749 at five.

The hotel rule

Under four hundred metres, regardless of budget. Roads close and shuttles stop, so distance stops being about comfort.

Who it is for

People for whom these specific nights are the entire point and who have planned for it well in advance. Not a window to arrive at because your dates happened to land there.

The first ten nights

Book by

Six to nine months ahead. Still workable at four months.

What it costs

From £749 at three star, £899 at four and £1,049 at five.

Why we recommend it most

The reward applies across the whole month, the crowds are manageable, and the close-in hotels are still available at a price that is not four figures.

Who it is for

Anybody doing a first Ramadan Umrah, and anybody who wants the month without the crowds and cost of the final third.

The middle ten nights

Book by

Six months ahead, and it is the most forgiving of the three.

What it costs

From £825 at three star, £999 at four and £1,175 at five.

Why it is underbooked

Because people default to the beginning or the end of the month. It sits between them on both price and crowd and nobody considers it.

A note for 2027

February half term falls inside this window, so British families have a rare alignment. Detail in our February guide.

The instalment arithmetic

The part that makes early booking practical rather than just advisable, and it matters more in Ramadan than in any other window.

How it works

£99 per person holds the booking and fixes the price. The balance spreads across the months between then and eight weeks before departure, interest free, when you book four or more months ahead.

What that looks like on a Ramadan package

Package

Booked 12 months out

Booked 6 months out

Booked 4 months out

About £65 a month

About £163 a month

About £182 a month

About £363 a month

Last ten nights, £1,199

About £110 a month

About £275 a month

About £550 a month

What that shows

The same £1,199 package is £110 a month if you book a year ahead and £550 a month if you book at four. Five times the monthly commitment for the identical trip.

Why it matters more in Ramadan

Because Ramadan packages are the most expensive in the calendar. Spreading £1,199 over ten months is a manageable arrangement. Paying it in two instalments is not, for most people.

And inside eight weeks

There is no instalment option at all. The balance is already due, so a late Ramadan booking needs paying in full.

The wider point

Booking early does two things at once. It lowers the price and it lowers the monthly figure, and both point the same way. Full detail on the payment plan post.

You lose

4 weeks out

Realistically, the window itself

The order it goes in

Hotel first, then price, then room configuration, then payment flexibility, then availability entirely.

People plan around price and it is the second thing to go, not the first.

The stage most people are at

Four to six months, because that is when Ramadan starts appearing in conversation and on social media. By then the last ten nights has already largely resolved itself.

What that means for you

If you are reading this more than six months out, you are early and you should act on it. If you are reading it at four months, the first ten nights is the honest answer.

And the thing nobody says

There is no late deal in Ramadan. In other months, genuine late availability appears because group bookings shrink and allocations release. In the last ten nights, what releases is far out and it releases because somebody else also could not make it work.

How late availability actually works, in the months where it does, is in a separate post.

If you have left it late

The honest options, in order of how much we would recommend them.

1. Take the first ten nights instead

The best answer by a distance. £749 rather than £1,199, close-in hotels still available, manageable crowds, and the reward applies across the whole month.

2. Take the middle ten nights

£825, more forgiving on availability than either end, and consistently overlooked.

3. Take Eid and the fortnight after

From £849 for seven nights, or £969 for fourteen spanning Eid and the emptying city afterwards. That second one works out at £69 a night and almost nobody books it.

4. Shorten the trip and stay close

If the last ten nights genuinely is the only thing you want, five nights at four hundred metres beats ten nights at a kilometre and a half in that window. Every time.

5. Wait a year and book properly

Said plainly because it is sometimes right. A well-planned Ramadan Umrah booked twelve months ahead is a materially better trip than a compromised one taken now, and Ramadan comes round every year.

What we would not suggest

Taking a distant hotel in the last ten nights because it is what is available. That is the one booking in the calendar where we would rather lose the sale.

The comparison worth making

The first ten nights at £749 against the last ten at £1,199. £450 per person, or £1,800 across a family of four, for a fortnight of the same month.

The best value in Ramadan

Eid and after at fourteen nights, £969. Eid morning at the Haram followed by a fortnight in a city that empties around you, at £69 a night.

The one we recommend most

The first ten nights at £749, at four star for £899 if the budget reaches. A full Ramadan Umrah with a hotel you can actually use.

How we price

We check comparable UK packages every month and sit £20 under the lowest we can find for the same nights and the same hotel tier.

What to do now

  1. Decide the window before the dates. First ten, middle ten, last ten, or Eid and after. They have different prices, different crowds and different deadlines.
  2. Ask us what is genuinely available, rather than what is listed. We check the position before quoting rather than after.
  3. Book on a £99 deposit to fix the price, and spread the balance if you are four or more months out.
  4. Sort the ACWY vaccine as soon as you have paid the deposit. It is a visa requirement and GP waits lengthen through the autumn.
  5. Check every passport for six months validity from your travel date, not from today.
  6. Book your Nusuk permits the day your visa is approved. In Ramadan they go within minutes and women have fewer sessions.

On the permits specifically

The Umrah permit and the Rawdah permit are free through the Nusuk app, released on a rolling basis, and nobody can sell or guarantee one.

In Ramadan they are the tightest they get all year. Set up your profile the moment the visa lands rather than waiting until you arrive. Detail on the visa page.

And on the moon sighting

Every date on this page could move by a day. If your booking sits near a window boundary, tell us and we will build it to work either way rather than gambling on one projection.

Booking Ramadan: 54 questions answered

Grouped by topic. Direct answer first. All Ramadan dates are subject to moon sighting.

When to book

When should I book Ramadan Umrah?

Nine to twelve months ahead for the last ten nights. Six to nine months for the first and middle ten.

Why so much earlier than other months?

Because you compete with the entire Muslim world at once rather than with British families, for a finite number of rooms around one building.

How much lead does a normal month need?

Three to four months. Ramadan needs three to four times that.

What is the point of no return for the last ten nights?

Around three months out. After that what is available is far enough away that we would not recommend it in that window.

Is there a hard deadline?

Eight weeks, for everything. Inside that the balance is already due, so it needs paying in full.

Is that your rule?

No. It is when the airline and hotel want their money and it applies whoever you book with.

Where does Ramadan 2027 stand now?

Roughly five and a half months out. Close-in for the last ten nights has largely gone, the first ten are tightening, the middle ten are workable.

What early booking buys

Does booking early save money?

Yes, and the hotel matters more. Proximity runs out before price becomes the problem.

Why does the hotel matter so much in Ramadan?

Because roads close and shuttles stop in the last ten nights, so a hotel a kilometre out becomes one you cannot easily reach the mosque from.

Is proximity a comfort upgrade?

In other months yes. In the last ten nights it is whether the trip works.

What does the deposit fix?

Your total price. Whatever happens to fares between your deposit and departure, you pay the figure on your confirmation.

What about room configuration?

Quad rooms go earliest in the tightest window of the year. A family of five booking at eight weeks is frequently looking at two rooms.

Does early booking help with the moon sighting?

It gives us room to build the trip so it works either way, rather than gambling on one projection.

The three windows

What are the three Ramadan windows?

First ten nights, middle ten and last ten. Different prices, different crowds and different booking deadlines.

What does the first ten cost?

From £749 at three star, £899 at four and £1,049 at five.

And the middle ten?

From £825, £999 and £1,175.

And the last ten?

From £1,199, £1,449 and £1,749.

Which do you recommend most?

The first ten nights. The reward applies across the whole month, the crowds are manageable, and the close-in hotels are still available.

Is the first ten a consolation prize?

No. It is a full Ramadan Umrah at £450 less with a better hotel.

Which is most underbooked?

The middle ten at £825. People default to one end of the month or the other.

What about Eid and after?

From £849 for seven nights, and £969 for fourteen spanning Eid and the emptying city. That works out at £69 a night.

What hotel distance for the last ten nights?

Under four hundred metres, regardless of budget.

Why Ramadan is different

Why is Ramadan so expensive?

Hotel scarcity. There is a finite number of rooms near the Haram and demand arrives from every Muslim country at once.

Can more hotels be built?

Further out, yes. The Haram sits in a valley and there is no way to create more ground within walking distance.

Does demand spread evenly across the month?

No. The last ten nights carry a disproportionate share, which is why that window runs out first and by the widest margin.

How much more is Ramadan than January?

The last ten nights at £1,199 against £499 for the same trip in January.

Can an agency negotiate Ramadan hotel rates?

No. They are set by owners in Makkah responding to global demand, and any operator implying otherwise is selling you something.

Is the flight the reason it costs more?

Barely. The flight moves from around £240 to £340 on a package that has risen by seven hundred.

Instalments

Can I pay Ramadan monthly?

Interest free, when you book four or more months ahead.

What would £1,199 cost per month?

About £110 booked twelve months out, £275 at six months, and £550 at four.

Why does that matter more in Ramadan?

Because Ramadan packages are the most expensive in the calendar. Spreading £1,199 over ten months is manageable. Two instalments is not, for most people.

What about the first ten nights?

About £65 a month booked twelve months out, against £325 at four months.

Is there any instalment option inside eight weeks?

None. The balance is already due, so it needs paying in full.

What is the deposit?

£99 per person, and it fixes your price in writing.

What waiting costs

What do I lose first by waiting?

The hotel, then the price, then room configuration, then payment flexibility, then availability entirely.

Is that the order people expect?

No. Most people plan around price and it is the second thing to go rather than the first.

When do most people start looking?

Four to six months out, which is when Ramadan starts appearing in conversation. By then the last ten nights has largely resolved itself.

Is there such a thing as a late Ramadan deal?

Not in the last ten nights. What releases there is far out, and it releases because somebody else also could not make it work.

Does group shrinkage release rooms in Ramadan?

It does, and in that window what releases is almost always a long way from the Haram.

What is the worst booking in the calendar?

A distant hotel in the last ten nights because it is what was available. We would rather lose the sale.

If you are late

I have left it late. What should I do?

Take the first ten nights. £450 less, a hotel you can actually use, and the reward applies across the whole month.

What is the second option?

The middle ten nights, which is more forgiving on availability than either end.

And the third?

Eid and the fortnight after, at £849 for seven nights or £969 for fourteen.

What if I only want the last ten nights?

Shorten the trip and stay close. Five nights at four hundred metres beats ten at a kilometre and a half in that window, every time.

Should I ever wait a year?

Sometimes, and we will say so. A well-planned Ramadan booked twelve months ahead is a better trip than a compromised one taken now.

Will you tell me if my dates are not deliverable?

At the enquiry stage rather than after taking a deposit.

Practical

What should I send you at the enquiry?

Which window you want rather than which dates. First ten, middle ten, last ten, or Eid and after.

When should I get the vaccine?

As soon as you pay the deposit. It is a visa requirement and GP waits lengthen through the autumn.

When do you submit the visa?

Six to seven weeks before departure, because the single-entry visa gives only 30 days from issue to enter Saudi Arabia.

When should I book Nusuk permits?

The day your visa is approved. In Ramadan they go within minutes and women have fewer sessions.

Can anyone guarantee me a Rawdah permit?

No, at any price. They are free through the app and nobody can sell one.

What if the moon sighting moves my dates?

Tell us if your booking sits near a window boundary and we build it to work either way.

Should I book full board in Ramadan?

Generally not. Free iftar is laid out across the mosque floor daily and full board adds £15 to £30 per person per day.

What passport validity do I need?

At least six months from your travel date, not from today.
