More Than Just Umrah Packages

Umrah Packages from Perth Scotland 2027 — All-Inclusive from £645/pp | Scotland’s Fair City — Stone of Destiny, Scone Palace, Perth Masjid on St Catherine’s Road, Edinburgh Airport 44 Miles via M90

QUICK ANSWER: Packages Umrah arranges all-inclusive Umrah packages for Perth Scotland pilgrims from £645/pp for 7 nights (3-star, off-peak months). Edinburgh Airport (EDI) is approximately 44–47 miles south via M90/A90 — approximately 44–55 minutes by car; 40–48 minutes pre-dawn at 2–3am. EDI is Perth’s primary Umrah airport — Saudi Airlines operates from Edinburgh, and Perth benefits from the M90 motorway’s direct connection. Glasgow Airport (GLA, ~60 miles southwest via A9/M80/M8) is the secondary option. £99 deposit. ATOL protected. WhatsApp +44 7737 144335.

PERTH SCOTLAND — THE FAIR CITY, STONE OF DESTINY, AND THE M90 TO EDINBURGH: Perth is Scotland’s historic Fair City — a royal burgh on the River Tay where the Stone of Destiny (the Stone of Scone) was kept for centuries and where Scottish kings were crowned at Scone Palace. The Stone of Destiny now rests in Perth Museum after its return from Edinburgh Castle in 2024. Perth Masjid at 37 St Catherine’s Road (PH1 5YA, Charity SC026814) is ‘the only mosque in the city’ — serving the Muslim community since 1997. Edinburgh Airport is 44 miles south via M90. No Umrah operator has dedicated a page to Perth Scotland. This is the first.

Perth is a city in central Scotland — the administrative centre of the Perth and Kinross local authority area, situated on the banks of the River Tay at the point where the river broadens from its mountain origins in the Perthshire highlands into the tidal firth below the city. Perth received city status in 2012 as part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee City Status awards — one of three new cities created that year, along with Chelmsford in England and St Asaph in Wales. With a population of approximately 50,000–55,000, Perth is a compact, attractive city with a disproportionate historical significance: it was, for much of the medieval period, effectively Scotland’s de facto capital — the seat of the Scottish royal court, the location of Scone Abbey and Scone Palace where Scottish kings were crowned, and a major commercial centre for trade with continental Europe via the River Tay.

Perth’s most extraordinary heritage claim in 2027 is the possession of the Stone of Destiny — the Stone of Scone — in the newly refurbished Perth Museum. The Stone of Destiny is the ancient coronation stone of Scottish kings. It was kept at Scone, just north of Perth, from the 9th century until 1296, when Edward I of England removed it to Westminster Abbey as a symbol of English dominance over Scotland. After 700 years at Westminster — used in the coronation throne of every English and British monarch — the Stone was returned to Scotland in 1996, initially to Edinburgh Castle. In 2024, the Stone was moved to Perth Museum — returning it closest to its original home at Scone. The Stone of Destiny is one of the most significant historical objects in British history, and it now rests in Perth.

Perth Masjid — Perth Islamic Society at 37 St Catherine’s Road, Perth PH1 5YA (Charity SC026814, phone 01738 440442) — is ‘the only mosque in the city’ according to its own description, having served the Muslim community in and around Perth since its establishment in 1997. Located in the city centre, within walking distance of Perth’s bus and train stations, the mosque holds Friday Jumu’ah with the Khutbah starting at 1:15 PM, daily prayers, and provides Islamic education and community services. A separate section is provided for women. The mosque is a registered Scottish charity.

No Umrah operator has dedicated a page to Perth Scotland. Scotland’s Fair City — the Stone of Destiny, Scone Palace, the River Tay, and the M90 motorway’s direct Edinburgh Airport connection — has been invisible to the Umrah market. This is the first dedicated Perth Scotland Umrah page.

The Stone of Destiny — 700 Years at Westminster, Now Home in Perth

The Stone of Destiny (also known as the Stone of Scone, Clach Sgàin in Scottish Gaelic) is a rectangular block of Lower Old Red Sandstone, measuring approximately 66cm × 42.5cm × 28cm and weighing approximately 152 kilograms. It is believed to have been used in the coronation of Scottish kings from Kenneth MacAlpin in the 9th century. The Stone was kept at Scone — the ancient inauguration site of the Kings of Scots, approximately 2 miles north of Perth — from approximately 838 AD. At Scone, Scottish kings were crowned upon or beside the Stone in a tradition that lasted until 1296.

In 1296, Edward I of England — ‘Hammer of the Scots’ — invaded Scotland, defeated King John Balliol, and removed the Stone of Destiny to Westminster Abbey in London as a trophy of conquest and a symbol of the subjugation of Scottish kingship to English power. At Westminster, the Stone was incorporated into the Coronation Chair — a wooden throne built specifically to enclose the Stone beneath its seat — and every English and British monarch was crowned sitting above the Stone from Edward I’s own coronation in 1301 until the coronation of King Charles III in May 2023, which was the first to use the Stone after it was returned to Scotland. (The Stone was temporarily returned to Westminster for the 2023 coronation, then returned to Scotland.)

The Stone of Destiny was returned to Scotland by the British Government in 1996 — 700 years after Edward I took it — and was displayed in Edinburgh Castle until 2024, when the newly refurbished Perth Museum opened and received the Stone. Perth Museum — in the heart of Perth city centre, on George Street — is now the permanent home of the Stone of Destiny, returning it as close as possible to its original location at Scone, just 2 miles north. For Perth’s Muslim community, living in the city that now holds Scotland’s most significant historical object, this is part of the civic heritage of their home.

The Stone of Destiny and the Umrah journey: the Stone spent 700 years away from its home — taken, kept in a foreign place, returned only after seven centuries. The Umrah pilgrim from Perth makes a different kind of journey: not away from home, but toward the sacred place that has always been the destination of Muslim aspiration. Both journeys involve crossing impossible distances — the Stone’s physical return after 700 years, and the Perth Muslim’s journey to Makkah. Perth understands what it means for something precious to come home.

Scone Palace — Where Scottish Kings Were Crowned, 2 Miles from Perth

Scone Palace, approximately 2 miles north of Perth city centre on the A93, is the ancestral home of the Earls of Mansfield and the site of the ancient inauguration place of the Kings of Scots. It was at Scone — on the Moot Hill (an artificial mound possibly created from earth brought by Scottish nobles swearing fealty to the king) — that Scottish kings were inaugurated from the 9th century until the early 14th century. The palace visible today dates primarily from the early 19th century (rebuilt in Gothic Revival style around 1802–1812), but the site’s significance is ancient. Scone’s visitor attraction includes the site of the original abbey and the inauguration mound, the state rooms and extensive grounds, and the historical interpretation of Scotland’s royal history.

The River Tay — Scotland’s Longest River Through Perth

The River Tay is Scotland’s longest river — 117 miles (188 km) from its source on the slopes of Ben Lui in the Southern Highlands to its mouth in the Firth of Tay below Dundee. Perth sits at the tidal limit of the Tay — the point below which the river becomes an estuary — and the city’s characteristic Tay bridges carry road and pedestrian traffic across the wide river. The Tay flowing through Perth is not the mountain river of Perthshire’s upper reaches but a broad, tidal, navigable waterway that historically gave Perth its commercial importance as a port. The river’s salmon fishing — the Tay is one of Scotland’s premier salmon rivers — has been a significant part of Perth’s economic and leisure character for centuries.

Perth Scotland to Edinburgh Airport — M90 South, 44 Miles, Saudi Airlines Jeddah

The M90 motorway — which begins at Perth’s southern outskirts and runs south through Kinross and across the Forth Road Bridge to Edinburgh — provides Perth with a direct, fast motorway connection to Edinburgh Airport. The journey from Perth to Edinburgh Airport via the M90 is approximately 44–47 miles and completely motorway from the Perth M90 junction to the airport approach roads. At pre-dawn, the M90 is clear and fast — one of Scotland’s most uncongested motorway routes at 2–3am.

Perth Scotland’s Muslim Community — St Catherine’s Road, The Only Mosque, Since 1997

Perth Masjid — Perth Islamic Society, 37 St Catherine’s Road, Perth PH1 5YA (Charity SC026814, established 10 July 1997, phone 01738 440442) — is, by its own description, ‘the only mosque in the city.’ Located right in the centre of Perth City, within walking distance of Perth bus and train stations, the mosque has been ‘serving the Community in and around Perth’ since 1997. The mosque’s charitable objects specify ‘the conduct of public worship according to the tenets of the religion of Islam in accordance with the sunni sect,’ ‘the provision of facilities for public worship,’ ‘the study of the religion and education,’ and ‘the relief of poverty of those in need among the Muslim community in the area.’ Friday Jumu’ah Khutbah starts at 1:15 PM. A separate section is provided for women.

Perth Central Mosque (perthcentralmosque.com) provides five daily prayers, education, youth events, and community outreach — describing itself as ‘more than a prayer space.’ Together, Perth’s two mosque institutions serve a small but established Pakistani and South Asian Muslim community that has made its home in one of Scotland’s most historically significant cities.

The Islamic Centre at 65 Glasgow Road, Perth PH2 provides additional prayer facilities for the western parts of the city. Together, Perth’s mosque institutions reflect a Muslim community that, despite its relatively small size, has established a full set of Islamic institutional services in Scotland’s Fair City — serving Friday prayers, Eid prayers, Islamic education, and community needs for the Perth and Kinross Muslim population.

Perth and the Pakistani Community in Scotland

The Pakistani community in Perth — like Pakistani communities in other Scottish cities and towns — came to Scotland primarily in the post-war period, many through the restaurant trade and retail businesses that gave Pakistani families their economic foothold in Scottish society. In Perth — a smaller city than Edinburgh, Glasgow, or Dundee — the Pakistani community is compact but well-established, with the mosque on St Catherine’s Road as its primary institutional anchor. Perth’s Pakistani Muslim families live in a city of extraordinary historical significance, walking the same streets where Robert the Bruce held parliaments, where Mary Queen of Scots visited, and where Scotland’s coronation stone rested for centuries.

Book Your Perth Scotland Umrah — From the Fair City to the House of Allah

The Stone of Destiny spent 700 years in Westminster — held in a foreign place, used for foreign coronations, absent from the Moot Hill at Scone where it had witnessed the inauguration of Scottish kings. Then it came home. To Perth. To the city on the River Tay where the coronation tradition of Scottish kingship began. To Perth Museum, 2 miles from Scone. The return of something precious after an impossible absence — that is Perth’s most recent story.

The Muslim community of St Catherine’s Road aspires to Makkah — the return to the sacred centre, the arrival at the House of Allah that every Muslim prayer faces, the completion of a spiritual journey that no other action in a believer’s life can replicate. Perth understands journeys and homecomings. The Stone returned after 700 years. The Perth pilgrim makes the journey to the Haram and returns changed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. What is Umrah and who can perform it?

Umrah is a voluntary Islamic pilgrimage to Makkah that can be performed at any time of the year. It is open to all Muslims worldwide, regardless of age or gender, provided women under 45 are accompanied by a Mahram.

Hajj is the compulsory annual pilgrimage performed during the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah and is one of the Five Pillars of Islam. Umrah is a voluntary pilgrimage that can be performed throughout the year and is often referred to as the “lesser pilgrimage.”

The actual rituals of Umrah — Ihram, Tawaf, Sa’i, and Halq or Taqsir — can be completed in a few hours. However, most pilgrims spend 7 to 14 days in Saudi Arabia to maximise their time in worship at the Haram.

Umrah can be performed throughout the year. However, Ramadan is considered the most spiritually rewarding time, as performing Umrah during this month holds the reward equivalent to Hajj. January to March also offer cooler temperatures and a peaceful atmosphere.

Our Umrah packages typically include return flights from the UK, hotel accommodation in both Makkah and Madinah, airport transfers, Umrah visa processing, and 24/7 customer support. Full details are listed on each individual package page.
