Leeds is one of the UK’s most rapidly growing major cities and home to approximately 70,000–80,000 Muslims across its diverse communities. Unlike Bradford — where the Muslim population is concentrated in specific predominantly Pakistani and Kashmiri neighbourhoods — Leeds’s Muslim community is more geographically spread and more ethnically varied. Harehills’s mixed South Asian, Somali, and Arab populations. Beeston’s established Pakistani community. Hyde Park and Burley’s student Muslim community near the universities. Chapeltown’s diverse African, Caribbean Muslim, and Pakistani families. Armley’s established Pakistani community. Gipton and Seacroft’s more recent Muslim residents. Leeds’s Muslim geography is not a single community — it is several overlapping ones, each with its own Umrah tradition and its own particular relationship to the pilgrimage.
What they share: the intention. The Haram is a unifying aspiration for every Muslim in Leeds regardless of ethnicity, neighbourhood, or socioeconomic background. The Pakistani family in Beeston, the Somali family in Harehills, the Yemeni family in Chapeltown, the Muslim student from Huddersfield studying at Leeds Beckett — the desire to stand before the Kaaba is the same. The logistics of getting there from Leeds are what this page addresses.
Packages Umrah is operated by Uraan Travel Ltd (7 Huxley Avenue, Manchester M8 0SJ). We arrange Umrah packages for all Leeds communities with genuinely all-inclusive pricing and ATOL protection. WhatsApp +44 7737 144335 or visit packagesumrah.co.uk.
Leeds pilgrims face a genuine airport question that we explain clearly here, because several competitor websites are confusing on this point. There are two realistic airport options for Leeds Umrah pilgrims:
Manchester Airport is 43 miles west of Leeds city centre — accessible on the M62 motorway. For most Leeds Umrah packages, Manchester Airport is the departure point that offers the widest range of connecting flights to Jeddah and Madinah at the most competitive prices.
Detail | Manchester Airport (MAN) for Leeds Pilgrims |
Distance from Leeds city centre | ~43 miles |
Route | Leeds → M621 → M62 West → M60 Ring Road → M56 → Manchester Airport |
Drive time (off-peak) | 45–55 minutes |
Drive time (morning traffic) | 60–80 minutes |
Train option | Leeds station → Manchester Piccadilly (direct, ~55 mins) → Manchester Airport (20 mins). Total ~75–80 mins. |
Taxi from Leeds | Approximately £50–70 for a private hire car |
Saudi Arabia routes | Connecting flights via Istanbul, Dubai, or Doha to Jeddah or Madinah. Wide range of airlines and departure times. |
ATOL packages available | Yes — all our Leeds Umrah packages via MAN are ATOL protected |
Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) is approximately 8 miles northwest of Leeds city centre — significantly more convenient in terms of journey time. However, LBA’s Saudi Arabia Umrah route provision is limited compared to Manchester Airport:
Detail | Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) for Leeds Pilgrims |
Distance from Leeds city centre | ~8 miles northwest |
Drive time from Leeds | 15–20 minutes |
Train option | Leeds station → Shipley → Bradford Forster Square → taxi/bus to LBA. Or direct bus to LBA from Leeds. Approximately 45–60 mins. |
Saudi Arabia routes | Limited — LBA does not operate regular Jeddah/Madinah Umrah services comparable to Manchester. Seasonal connecting options via European hubs available. |
When to choose LBA | If a suitable LBA route is available for your specific dates at comparable price — LBA’s proximity makes it worthwhile. Always worth checking. |
Our recommendation | We check LBA availability for every Leeds quote. If a good LBA route exists for your dates, we recommend it. If not, MAN is the practical choice. |
Our approach to Leeds airport selection: We check both LBA and MAN for every Leeds Umrah quote. If LBA has a suitable route at a comparable price for your dates, we recommend it — the 15-minute journey beats 55 minutes every time. If LBA does not have a suitable route, we arrange MAN departure with the train or private hire journey as standard. We never assume one airport — we check both.
For the early-morning departures typical of Gulf-connecting flights, the M62 from Leeds to MAN is straightforward:
Every price below includes return flights (from MAN or LBA as available), Umrah visa processing, named Makkah hotel (distance from Haram confirmed in metres before deposit), named Madinah hotel, Rawdah visit pre-booked, and all Saudi Arabia transport. Prices are £20 per person below UK market rates for equivalent all-inclusive packages.

Leeds’s Muslim community is among the most ethnically diverse of any UK city of its size. Unlike Bradford’s more homogeneous Mirpuri Kashmiri majority, or Birmingham’s predominantly Pakistani South Asian character, Leeds’s Muslim geography encompasses multiple distinct communities, each with its own approach to faith, community, and the pilgrimage.
Harehills (LS8, LS9) is Leeds’s most ethnically diverse neighbourhood — a genuinely multi-community area where Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Somali, Yemeni, Congolese, and East African Muslim families live in the same streets. The Harehills Road and Roundhay Road corridors have mosques serving different communities with different Islamic traditions and different languages. The Umrah intention in Harehills is consistent across communities: it is the shared pilgrimage aspiration of people whose different ethnic and linguistic backgrounds dissolve at the Kaaba. For Harehills families, the train from Leeds station to Manchester Airport is a practical departure route — Harehills Road is 15 minutes by bus to Leeds city centre.
Beeston (LS10, LS11) is Leeds’s most established Pakistani Muslim neighbourhood, with a community history stretching back to the 1960s and 1970s. The Kashmiri and Pakistani families of Beeston have deep Umrah travel traditions — many families have performed multiple Umrahs across generations. Beeston Hill’s Muslim community is concentrated around the Town Street and Tempest Road areas. For Beeston pilgrims, Manchester Airport is approximately 50 minutes via the M621/M62 westbound route. The community’s Umrah pattern tends toward larger family groups (often including elderly first-generation parents) and regular annual or biennial travel.
Hyde Park (LS6) and Burley (LS4) are directly adjacent to the University of Leeds and Leeds Beckett University campuses, making them the primary residential areas for Muslim students. The student Muslim population here is particularly diverse — reflecting the international student body of two large UK universities. For Leeds Muslim students performing Umrah during university holidays, the combination of off-peak pricing and vacation-window timing makes the November, October, and April Easter windows the most practical.
Leeds University Islamic Society and Leeds Beckett Islamic Society both organise annual Umrah trips for Muslim students. For groups of 10 or more students, our group rate from £625/pp applies — the most affordable form of student Umrah available from Leeds.
Chapeltown (LS7) is historically Leeds’s most significant African, Caribbean, and South Asian community area — and its Muslim population reflects that diversity, including significant Somali, African Muslim, and Pakistani families alongside the historical Caribbean Muslim community. Chapeltown’s Muslim community has a particularly strong connection to Islamic education — several Islamic supplementary schools operate in the area. The Umrah intention in Chapeltown has a specific quality: for many Somali and African Muslim families, the pilgrimage to the Haram is not just a personal spiritual goal but a family heritage priority passed down through generations who maintained Islamic practice through significant displacement and resettlement.
Armley (LS12) and Wortley (LS12) have established Pakistani and Bangladeshi Muslim communities concentrated around Town Street and Armley Ridge Road. These working-class Muslim communities have consistent Umrah travel patterns — typically family groups booking in the off-peak windows (November, January, October) when the price is lowest and the Haram is most accessible. For Armley pilgrims, Manchester Airport is accessible via the M621 junction directly at Armley — one of the most convenient Leeds motorway access points for the MAN journey.
Gipton (LS8) and Seacroft (LS14) have significant Pakistani and Bangladeshi Muslim communities in East Leeds. Seacroft in particular has seen a growing Muslim population in recent years. For East Leeds pilgrims, the M1 South to M62 West is the MAN route, making the journey approximately 50–60 minutes. The A64 directly from East Leeds to the M1 junction is a clean route.
Month | Islamic Period | Leeds Notes | Haram Crowds | Price (3★, 7N) |
November 2027 | Jumada al-Thani | No Leeds school holidays. Ideal for non-family pilgrims. Quietest Haram. | Very Low | £645/pp |
January 2027 | Rajab 1448 | Leeds schools back after Christmas. Joint cheapest month. Mild weather. | Low | £645/pp |
October 2027 | Jumada al-Awwal | Leeds half-term (~25–29 Oct). Good for families. Best Tawaf conditions. | Low–Moderate | £669/pp |
September 2027 | Rabi al-Thani | Leeds universities starting autumn term. Student Umrah window closing. Good value. | Low | £669/pp |
April 2027 (Easter) | Shawwal | Leeds school Easter break. Universities on Easter vacation. Student and family window. | Moderate | £659/pp |

March 2027 (Ramadan) | Ramadan 1448 | Leeds schools in term. Parents-only Umrah most practical. Book by Sep 2026. | Very High | £879/pp |
Seven nights suits Leeds working professionals with standard annual leave, and Leeds students using the exact length of a university break. Five working days if flying Thursday to Thursday. Four Makkah nights and 3 Madinah nights: sufficient for Umrah, Rawdah visit, and the essential Madinah Ziyarat including Masjid Quba and Uhud. For Leeds first-time pilgrims who want to test the waters — this is the format that gets you there without the leave pressure of a longer trip. From £645/pp off-peak. £99 deposit.
Ten nights — 6 Makkah nights, 4 Madinah nights — is our most recommended format for Leeds pilgrims. The extra three Makkah days after the first Umrah are the days when the experience fully opens. By night 4 in Makkah, you are not managing rituals — you are simply worshipping. You know where Fajr is quietest. You have found the Multazam accessible at 4am. You have performed voluntary Tawaf not because you were told to but because you wanted to. These are the Makkah days that 7-night pilgrims describe missing most on the plane home. From £695/pp off-peak.
Twelve nights suits Leeds families using the full Easter or Christmas school holiday window, Leeds elderly pilgrims who want a slower pace, and Leeds community groups wanting the complete experience in both cities. Seven Makkah nights, 5 Madinah nights. From £735/pp off-peak.
Two full weeks from Leeds. Eight Makkah nights, 6 Madinah nights. For the Leeds pilgrim who has been planning this for years — perhaps deferring the trip through university, through establishing a career, through raising children — 14 nights gives the pilgrimage the time it deserves. Multiple Umrahs from Masjid Aisha, both Makkah mountain climbs, the complete Madinah experience, and sustained time in both cities without the clock running. From £775/pp off-peak.
Leeds has two major universities and multiple further education colleges with significant Muslim student populations. The University of Leeds and Leeds Beckett University have combined Muslim student populations in the thousands. For Leeds Muslim students, Umrah works in specific holiday windows:
For Leeds’s established Pakistani Muslim families in Beeston, Armley, Gipton, and East Leeds, the primary Umrah booking pattern is family groups of 4–8 people, typically including at least one elderly family member for whom the Umrah is a long-held intention. The school holiday windows (Easter, October half-term, Christmas) are the practical booking windows for Leeds Pakistani families with school-age children.
For Leeds Pakistani families taking elderly parents — perhaps grandparents who have wanted to perform Umrah for decades — 4-star accommodation and October or November departure months are our specific recommendations. The shorter walk to the Haram (100–400m vs 300–800m for 3-star) and the comfortable outdoor temperatures (28–36°C) make October and November the ideal months for this format.
Leeds’s Somali Muslim community — primarily concentrated in Harehills and Chapeltown — has a specific relationship to the pilgrimage that reflects the Somali diaspora’s complex relationship with Islamic practice under displacement. For many Leeds Somali families, the first Umrah is a particular milestone — performed as a family after the stability and resources of life in Leeds have made it possible in a way it was not in Somalia or in the early years of resettlement. Our packages accommodate all languages — we communicate in English throughout the booking process and in the Saudi Arabia stay.
Leeds is one of the UK’s major financial, legal, and professional services centres — the city has a significant population of British Muslim professionals in law, finance, accountancy, medicine, and related fields. For Leeds professional Muslims whose primary constraint is not budget but time, the relevant package considerations are different:
For Leeds Muslim women performing Umrah without a Mahram — solo, with female friends, or in a women’s group — current Saudi regulations permit women aged 18+ to obtain their own visa and travel independently. For Leeds sisters’ groups from Islamic study circles, mosque women’s committees, and community groups:
Ramadan 2027 begins approximately 8 February 2027 (subject to moon sighting). For Leeds pilgrims, Ramadan falls during UK school and university term times — most Leeds parents will need to travel without school-age children, and most Leeds students will be in lectures. The Easter break (approximately 26 March onwards) follows Ramadan — making an Easter post-Ramadan Umrah a practical option for Leeds students and families. Book Ramadan packages by September 2026.
Ramadan Period | Approx. Dates | Price (3★, 7N) | Booking Deadline | Leeds Notes |
First Ashra (1–10) | ~8–17 Feb 2027 | From £879/pp | October 2026 | Full Ramadan experience. Leeds schools in term — parents-only travel typical. |
Second Ashra (11–20) | ~18–27 Feb 2027 | From £899/pp | August 2026 | Building intensity. MAN and LBA Ramadan seats filling. |
Last Ashra (21–29) | ~28 Feb–8 Mar 2027 | From £979/pp | July 2026 | Laylatul Qadr. Most sought-after window. Book as early as possible. |

Which airport do Leeds Umrah pilgrims fly from?
Most Leeds Umrah packages depart from Manchester Airport (MAN), approximately 43 miles west on the M62 (45–60 minute drive or 75–80 minute train journey). Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) is available for certain routes — we check both airports for every Leeds quote.
How do I get from Leeds to Manchester Airport?
By train: Leeds station to Manchester Piccadilly (direct, ~55 minutes) then to Manchester Airport station (~20 minutes). Total approximately 75–80 minutes. By private hire: M621 to M62 West to M60 to M56, approximately 45–60 minutes. By group minibus: coordinated from Leeds for group Umrah departures.
Can I fly from Leeds Bradford Airport?
We always check LBA for Leeds quotes. LBA has limited Umrah routes compared to Manchester Airport — in practice, most Leeds Umrah packages depart from MAN. If a suitable LBA route exists for your specific dates, we recommend it given the shorter journey time.
How much is a taxi from Leeds to Manchester Airport?
Approximately £50–70 for a standard private hire car. For families of 4–6 with luggage, private hire is often more practical than multiple train tickets. Book the night before for early morning Umrah departure times.
Can Leeds pilgrims also fly from London Heathrow or Birmingham?
Yes — we can arrange packages from any major UK airport if preferred. Some Leeds pilgrims have family in London or Birmingham and prefer to depart from there. Confirm your preferred airport when requesting your quote.
What is the cheapest Umrah package from Leeds?
From £645/pp for a 7-night, 3-star, all-inclusive off-peak package (November or January). Group rate for Leeds groups of 10+: from £625/pp.
How much is a 7 nights Umrah package from Leeds?
From £645/pp (3-star, off-peak months, all-inclusive from MAN). Includes return flights, Umrah visa, both hotels, Rawdah booking, and all Saudi Arabia transport.
How much is a 10 nights Umrah package from Leeds?
From £695/pp (3-star, off-peak, all-inclusive). 6 Makkah nights + 4 Madinah nights — our most recommended duration for Leeds pilgrims.
How much is a 14 nights Umrah package from Leeds?
From £775/pp (3-star, off-peak, all-inclusive). Two full weeks from Leeds — 8 Makkah nights + 6 Madinah nights.
What deposit is required?
£99 per person secures your place. Balance is due 8 weeks before departure.
Can I pay in instalments?
Yes — for bookings 4+ months before departure, payment plans are available. Contact us with your booking details for instalment options.
How far ahead should I book?
Off-peak months (November, January, October): 2–3 months ahead is sufficient. School holiday months (Easter, Christmas): 3–4 months. Ramadan 2027: book by September 2026. Last 10 Nights Ramadan: book immediately.
How do I get a quote?
WhatsApp +44 7737 144335. Tell us your preferred month, number of travellers, star rating preference, duration, and departure airport preference. Same-day itemised quote.
Do you arrange student Umrah from Leeds University and Leeds Beckett?
Yes — we arrange student Umrah packages for Leeds University Islamic Society and Leeds Beckett Islamic Society, as well as for individual students. Student groups of 10+ from £625/pp. Easter and Christmas vacation windows are the most practical for Leeds students.
Do you arrange group Umrah from Leeds mosques?
Yes — Leeds mosque group Umrah from £625/pp (10+). Coordinated MAN departure, same hotel floor, simultaneous visa processing, coordinated Rawdah slots.
Do you arrange Umrah for Leeds Somali, Yemeni, and African Muslim communities?
Yes — we arrange Umrah for all Leeds Muslim communities. All enquiries handled in English. We accommodate all nationalities within the standard Saudi Umrah visa framework.
Can Leeds women perform Umrah without a Mahram?
Yes — under current Saudi regulations, women aged 18+ can obtain their own Umrah visa and travel without a Mahram. We arrange women-only packages and women’s group packages from Leeds. Female liaison available — state your preference in your WhatsApp message.
Do you serve Dewsbury, Huddersfield, and other West Yorkshire towns?
Yes — our Leeds packages serve all West Yorkshire. Dewsbury (~40 mins to MAN), Huddersfield (~40 mins to MAN), Halifax (~45 mins to MAN), and Wakefield (~50 mins to MAN) pilgrims often book through Leeds packages using Manchester Airport as their departure point.
Is the Umrah visa included?
Yes — visa processing through the official Saudi Nusuk portal is included. No Nusuk navigation required by you.
Is the Rawdah visit pre-booked?
Yes — Rawdah visiting slot pre-booked before Leeds departure. Confirmed time on arrival in Madinah.
Are meals included?
Standard packages do not include meals. Food in Makkah costs approximately £15–25/day per person. Some 4-star and 5-star hotels include breakfast — confirmed at booking.
Are Leeds Umrah packages ATOL protected?
Yes — every flight-inclusive Leeds Umrah package is ATOL protected through Uraan Travel Ltd. ATOL Certificate issued at booking.
Leeds is a city that has changed more than almost any other UK city in the past thirty years — younger, more diverse, more international. Its Muslim community reflects that change: Harehills’s multiple languages and nationalities, Hyde Park’s student generations, Beeston’s established Pakistani families, Chapeltown’s African and Caribbean Muslims. The pilgrimage aspiration runs through all of them, across all these differences.
The logistics of getting from Leeds to Makkah are straightforward: the train to Manchester, the connecting flight to Jeddah, the Haramain train to Makkah. Three legs, a few hours, and the Haram is in front of you. What makes the difference between that journey being stressful and spiritually present is how well everything has been arranged before you leave. That arrangement — the confirmed hotel, the pre-booked Rawdah slot, the 24/7 agent on your phone throughout Saudi Arabia — is what we provide.
From £645/pp. £99 deposit. Named hotel before you pay. ATOL protected. Same-day quotes for every Leeds and West Yorkshire enquiry.

Umrah is a voluntary Islamic pilgrimage to Makkah that can be performed at any time of the year. It is open to all Muslims worldwide, regardless of age or gender, provided women under 45 are accompanied by a Mahram.
Hajj is the compulsory annual pilgrimage performed during the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah and is one of the Five Pillars of Islam. Umrah is a voluntary pilgrimage that can be performed throughout the year and is often referred to as the “lesser pilgrimage.”
The actual rituals of Umrah — Ihram, Tawaf, Sa’i, and Halq or Taqsir — can be completed in a few hours. However, most pilgrims spend 7 to 14 days in Saudi Arabia to maximise their time in worship at the Haram.
Umrah can be performed throughout the year. However, Ramadan is considered the most spiritually rewarding time, as performing Umrah during this month holds the reward equivalent to Hajj. January to March also offer cooler temperatures and a peaceful atmosphere.
Our Umrah packages typically include return flights from the UK, hotel accommodation in both Makkah and Madinah, airport transfers, Umrah visa processing, and 24/7 customer support. Full details are listed on each individual package page.
