More Than Just Umrah Packages

Umrah Packages from Chesterfield 2027 — All-Inclusive from £645/pp | The Crooked Spire Town Goes to Makkah — Chesterfield and North Derbyshire’s Own Umrah Page

QUICK ANSWER: Packages Umrah arranges all-inclusive Umrah packages for Chesterfield pilgrims from £645/pp for 7 nights (3-star, off-peak months). East Midlands Airport (EMA) is approximately 25 miles south of Chesterfield via the A617/M1/A453 — approximately 28–38 minutes by car. EMA is Chesterfield’s primary Umrah airport — one of the shorter East Midlands airport runs from any Derbyshire Muslim community. Manchester Airport (MAN) is approximately 45 miles northwest via A619/M67/M60 — approximately 48–58 minutes — and is checked when direct Jeddah is required. £99 deposit. ATOL protected. WhatsApp +44 7737 144335.

CHESTERFIELD IS THE NORTHERNMOST EAST MIDLANDS AIRPORT COMMUNITY: At approximately 25 miles from EMA, Chesterfield sits at the northern tip of East Midlands Airport’s practical catchment area. Most EMA users come from Derby, Nottingham, or Leicester — Chesterfield is further north than any of them but still within a comfortable 28–38 minute drive. The Muslim Welfare Association explicitly covers Chesterfield, North Derbyshire, Bolsover, and even the Peak District — a catchment area that no other Umrah operator serves specifically.

Chesterfield is a market town of approximately 103,000 people in Derbyshire — sitting on the River Rother, 12 miles south of Sheffield and 25 miles north of Derby, at the point where the Peak District begins to give way to the flatter East Midlands. It is the largest town in Derbyshire after Derby itself, and has been a market town since the 13th century — Chesterfield’s market charter dates to 1204, making it one of England’s oldest continuously operating markets.

Chesterfield is globally known — to those who know it — for one thing above all others: the Crooked Spire. The twisted spire of the Church of St Mary and All Saints rises 69 metres above the town centre and is twisted approximately 45 degrees from its base to its tip. The twist occurred in the 14th century due to the use of unseasoned green timber in the frame and the heavy weight of lead tiles on the south-facing side, which warped the unsupported wood in the medieval summer heat. The result is one of England’s most distinctive church spires — visible for miles across the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire landscape, a landmark so specific that it has become Chesterfield’s primary identity marker. The town knows it. Visitors from across England recognise it. It is genuinely extraordinary.

Chesterfield has another distinction that connects it specifically to railway history: George Stephenson — the engineer who built Locomotion No. 1, the world’s first successful steam locomotive for the Stockton and Darlington Railway — retired to Chesterfield and is buried in Holy Trinity Church in the town. Stephenson spent his final years at Tapton House on the hill above Chesterfield, and when he died in 1848, he was buried in the church that still serves the community. Chesterfield station sits on the Midland Main Line — the rail connection from Sheffield and the North to London St Pancras — making it one of the better-connected market towns in England for both road and rail access.

Within this historically rich Derbyshire market town, Chesterfield has a Pakistani Muslim community of approximately 5,000–8,000 people — roughly 5–8% of the population — primarily in the Brampton (S40) and Spital (S41) areas west of the town centre. The Chesterfield Muslim Association Masjid and the Chesterfield & North Derbyshire Jamia Mosque serve the community. The Muslim Welfare Association (established 2004) extends its reach beyond Chesterfield to North Derbyshire, Bolsover, and the Peak District — one of the most geographically expansive Muslim community organisations in the East Midlands.

No Umrah operator has a dedicated Chesterfield page. North Derbyshire’s Muslim community has been folded into generic Midlands or Sheffield pages. This is the first page built for Chesterfield specifically.

Packages Umrah is operated by Uraan Travel Ltd (7 Huxley Avenue, Manchester M8 0SJ). We arrange all-inclusive Umrah packages for Chesterfield, North Derbyshire, and the wider East Midlands. WhatsApp +44 7737 144335 or visit packagesumrah.co.uk.

EMA first; MAN when direct Jeddah needed

The Pennine route to MAN: The A619 route from Chesterfield toward Manchester crosses the Peak District — the Snake Pass (A57) is scenic but subject to winter closures. For pre-dawn departures in November, January, or any winter month, the A619 → A6 route through Chapel-en-le-Frith and Stockport is recommended over the Snake Pass to avoid any risk of closures. The M67/M60/M56 then gives a clear motorway run to MAN.

Chesterfield’s Muslim Community — Faith Under the Crooked Spire

The Crooked Spire of St Mary and All Saints has been twisted above Chesterfield since the 14th century. It is not straight. It does not conform to the expected geometry of a church spire. But it is one of England’s most recognisable landmarks precisely because of its deviation from the expected form — because it is specific, particular, and entirely its own. The Pakistani Muslim community of Chesterfield is a little like the spire: smaller than Bradford, Sheffield, or Leicester, less visible in the national Muslim geography, but entirely its own — specific to North Derbyshire, specific to the Rother Valley, specific to the particular Derbyshire character that is neither quite East Midlands nor quite Yorkshire but its own distinct thing.

The Pakistani families who came to Chesterfield in the 1960s and 1970s came to a market town whose economic base was coal mining, iron manufacturing, and the service industries of a regional centre. They settled primarily in the Brampton (S40) and Spital (S41) areas west of the town centre — neighbourhoods that had the rented housing availability that Pakistani workers needed in those early decades of settlement. Three generations later, Chesterfield’s Pakistani Muslim community is embedded in the town — as permanent as the Crooked Spire on the skyline.

Chesterfield Muslim Association Masjid

The Chesterfield Muslim Association Masjid is one of two primary mosques serving Chesterfield’s Muslim community. It offers daily prayers, Friday Jummah, Quran classes, and community services including a foodbank and welfare advice. The Chesterfield Muslim Association’s stated aims include advancing Islamic faith among Muslims in Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire, promoting public education about Islam, and providing welfare, immigration advice, and translation services. The mosque’s foodbank — providing food to those in need regardless of faith background — reflects the same community service tradition seen in the best of British Muslim institutions.

Chesterfield & North Derbyshire Jamia Mosque

The Chesterfield & North Derbyshire Jamia Mosque is the second major Islamic institution serving Chesterfield — providing daily prayers, Friday services, and Islamic education to the Brampton and wider Chesterfield Muslim community. Together, the two mosques serve Chesterfield’s Muslim geography from multiple locations and provide the institutional backbone of Islamic life in the town.

The Muslim Welfare Association — Serving North Derbyshire, Bolsover, and the Peak District

The Muslim Welfare Association (established 2004 with its own constitution and committed volunteers) explicitly serves the area of Chesterfield, North Derbyshire, Bolsover, and — uniquely — the Peak District. This is a remarkable catchment area for any Muslim community organisation: the Peak District is one of England’s most beautiful and least densely populated National Parks, and the Muslim families who live in its market towns and villages are served by the Chesterfield-based Muslim Welfare Association. For Umrah purposes, this means that families in Bakewell, Matlock, Wirksworth, and the Peak District villages can contact us for the same Chesterfield Umrah packages — the EMA route is accessible from across the region.

Chesterfield Umrah Package Durations

7 Nights from Chesterfield — From £645/pp

Seven nights suits Chesterfield working families on standard annual leave. The 25-mile A617/M1 south to East Midlands Airport — 23–32 minutes pre-dawn — is one of the more comfortable East Midlands airport runs from any Derbyshire Muslim community. Leave Brampton at 4:15–4:30am for a 6am EMA departure. Four Makkah nights, 3 Madinah nights. From £645/pp off-peak. £99 deposit.

10 Nights from Chesterfield — From £695/pp

Ten nights — 6 Makkah nights, 4 Madinah nights — is our most recommended Chesterfield format. By Makkah night 4, the Crooked Spire and the Derbyshire plain are entirely forgotten — the Haram is everything. Easter and Christmas school breaks fit 10 nights. From £695/pp off-peak.

12 Nights from Chesterfield — From £735/pp

Twelve nights suits Chesterfield families using the full Easter or Christmas school break, elderly Brampton pilgrims needing a relaxed pace, and North Derbyshire mosque groups wanting the full Ziyarat programme. Seven Makkah nights, 5 Madinah nights. From £735/pp off-peak.

14 Nights from Chesterfield — From £775/pp

Two full weeks from East Midlands Airport — 25 miles south of Chesterfield, 23 minutes at pre-dawn. Eight Makkah nights, 6 Madinah nights. Chesterfield Umrah by Pilgrim Type

Chesterfield Mosque Groups — North Derbyshire Community Umrah

Group Umrah from Chesterfield’s mosque community draws from Brampton (S40), Spital (S41), and the wider North Derbyshire Muslim geography. For Chesterfield mosque groups of 10+:

  • Group rate from £625/pp (3-star, off-peak). Coordinated group transport to EMA — shared private hire or a hired minibus via A617/M1 south. Approximately 28–38 minutes together from Brampton.
  • The A617 south from Chesterfield at pre-dawn: past Staveley, onto the M1 south, past Tibshelf, the EMA junction ahead. A clear, direct south M1 run — one of the more straightforward North Derbyshire-to-airport journeys.
  • For Ramadan groups: MAN via A619/A6/M67/M60/M56 (45 miles, approximately 44–52 minutes pre-dawn). Clear routes via Chapel-en-le-Frith and Stockport; avoid the Snake Pass in winter months.
  • Same-flight allocation. Same hotel floor. Simultaneous visa processing. Coordinated Rawdah visiting slots.

Chesterfield Families with School-Age Children

For Chesterfield families with children in Chesterfield Borough or Derbyshire County Council schools:

  • Easter break 2027: confirm Chesterfield/Derbyshire school dates. 10 nights fits. From £659/pp.
  • October half-term: 7-night package. From £669/pp. Most recommended school holiday window.
  • Christmas break: 10 or 12 nights from £699/pp. Best Makkah weather.
  • Summer break: from £729/pp. Very hot Makkah — October or Easter more comfortable for young children.

Elderly Chesterfield Pilgrims — The Brampton Founding Generation

For the first and second generation of Chesterfield’s Pakistani Muslim community — who came to Brampton and Spital in the 1960s and built the mosque infrastructure:

  • EMA via A617/M1 south: 25 miles, 23–32 minutes pre-dawn. Private hire from Brampton to EMA: approximately £38–55. The shorter journey is excellent for elderly pilgrims.
  • MAN for direct Jeddah/Ramadan: 45 miles, 40–52 minutes pre-dawn. Overnight MAN hotel (approximately £55–80) removes the pre-dawn drive — recommended for elderly pilgrims when using MAN.
  • 4-star or 5-star accommodation: Haram proximity (50–400m) essential.
  • October or November departure: outdoor temperatures 28–36°C manageable.
  • Wheelchair assistance: pre-arranged at EMA or MAN, at Jeddah Airport, and for Tawaf.
  • Haramain High Speed Railway: 2h 20m Makkah to Madinah, air-conditioned, reserved seats.

North Derbyshire, Bolsover, and Peak District Families

For the Muslim families served by the Muslim Welfare Association across Chesterfield, North Derbyshire, Bolsover, and the Peak District:

  • Bolsover (S44): EMA approximately 28 miles south via M1 — approximately 30–38 minutes pre-dawn. Our Chesterfield packages serve Bolsover.
  • Matlock (DE4): EMA approximately 30 miles south via A615/M1 — approximately 32–40 minutes. Our packages serve Matlock and the Peak District edge.
  • Bakewell (DE45): EMA approximately 32 miles south via A6/M1 — approximately 33–42 minutes. Very small Muslim community; our packages serve all enquiries from the Peak District.
  • Clay Cross (S45): EMA only 22 miles — approximately 24–30 minutes pre-dawn. Slightly shorter than central Chesterfield.

Chesterfield Women’s Groups

For Chesterfield Muslim women performing Umrah without a Mahram — women aged 18+ may travel independently under current Saudi regulations:

  • Women-only group packages from £625/pp (10+). Women-only room configurations.
  • Female liaison throughout the Saudi Arabia stay.
  • Group taxi from Brampton to EMA (~25 miles, ~28–35 minutes) — most practical for pre-dawn women’s group departures.
  • Train option: Chesterfield station → Nottingham (~40–50 minutes on Midland Main Line) → taxi to EMA (~25 minutes). Approximately 65–80 minutes total. Feasible for daytime departures; car more practical pre-dawn.

Ramadan Umrah from Chesterfield 2027

Ramadan 2027 begins approximately 8 February 2027. For Ramadan, we recommend Manchester Airport (MAN, ~45 miles northwest via A619/A6/M67/M60/M56, ~44–52 minutes pre-dawn) for the direct Saudi Airlines Jeddah service — essential when connecting hub airports are strained during Ramadan. EMA is checked first for every booking but MAN is strongly recommended for Ramadan specifically. Book by September 2026 for Last Ashra. WINTER ROUTE WARNING: Use A619 → A6 via Chapel-en-le-Frith for MAN in winter months — do not rely on Snake Pass (A57) which may be closed in frost/snow.

Frequently Asked Questions — Umrah Packages from Chesterfield 2027

Airport and Travel

Which airport do Chesterfield pilgrims use for Umrah?

East Midlands Airport (EMA), approximately 25 miles south via A617/M1/A453 — approximately 28–40 minutes off-peak; 23–32 minutes at 2–3am. EMA is Chesterfield’s primary Umrah airport. Manchester Airport (MAN, approximately 45 miles northwest) is used for Ramadan and when direct Jeddah is required.

How long is the drive from Chesterfield to East Midlands Airport?

Approximately 25 miles south via A617/M1/A453 — approximately 28–40 minutes off-peak; 23–32 minutes at 2–3am on clear roads.

How long is the drive from Chesterfield to Manchester Airport?

Approximately 45 miles northwest via A619/A6/M67/M60/M56 — approximately 48–65 minutes off-peak; 40–52 minutes at 2–3am. In winter months, use A619 → A6 via Chapel-en-le-Frith (avoid Snake Pass risk).

Can I use the Snake Pass route to Manchester Airport from Chesterfield?

The Snake Pass (A57) route is scenic but may be closed in winter due to frost, ice, or snow — particularly in November, December, January, and February. For pre-dawn Umrah departures in winter months, always use the A619 → A6 south of Buxton → Stockport → M60/M56 route to MAN. This adds approximately 10 minutes but eliminates closure risk.

What time should I leave Chesterfield for a 6am EMA flight?

Leave Brampton or central Chesterfield at approximately 4:15–4:30am. The A617 and M1 south at that hour are clear — 23–28 minutes to EMA with comfortable check-in time.

How much is a taxi from Chesterfield to East Midlands Airport?

Approximately £38–55 for a standard private hire car from central Chesterfield or Brampton to EMA.

Is there a train to East Midlands Airport from Chesterfield?

Chesterfield station (Midland Main Line) connects to Nottingham (~40–50 min) and Derby, both of which have bus connections to EMA. Total journey approximately 65–80 minutes. For pre-dawn departures, a taxi to EMA (~25 miles, ~28 minutes) is more practical.

Where is George Stephenson buried?

George Stephenson, the railway engineer who built Locomotion No. 1, is buried at Holy Trinity Church in Chesterfield. He lived at Tapton House in Chesterfield during his final years and died in 1848.

Book Your Chesterfield Umrah — From the Crooked Spire to the House of Allah

The Crooked Spire twisted because the green timber warped in the medieval summer heat and the lead tiles on the south face pulled the frame out of true. It was not designed to twist. It twisted because the materials were imperfect, the conditions were difficult, and the unsupported structure responded to those conditions in an unexpected way. And yet the twist made the spire more distinctive, more memorable, more specifically Chesterfield than any straight spire could ever be. The deviation from the expected form became the identity.

The Pakistani Muslim community of Brampton has maintained its faith in a market town that is not Bradford, not Sheffield, not Nottingham — in a town whose Muslim community is smaller, less visible in the national conversation, but entirely its own. Three generations deep. A mosque with a foodbank. A welfare association that serves even the Peak District villages. The Umrah aspiration maintained across those sixty years of North Derbyshire life — as consistent and as specific as the Crooked Spire on the skyline above the market town.

The A617 south from Brampton at 4:15am: Chesterfield’s streets empty, the spire dark against the sky, East Midlands Airport 25 miles ahead on the M1 south. 23 minutes at pre-dawn. The connecting flight. Jeddah. Makkah. From £645/pp all-inclusive. £99 deposit. Named hotel before deposit. ATOL Certificate at booking. Same-day quotes for Chesterfield, Brampton, Spital, Hasland, Staveley, Bolsover, Clay Cross, Matlock, Bakewell, and all North Derbyshire.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. What is Umrah and who can perform it?

Umrah is a voluntary Islamic pilgrimage to Makkah that can be performed at any time of the year. It is open to all Muslims worldwide, regardless of age or gender, provided women under 45 are accompanied by a Mahram.

Hajj is the compulsory annual pilgrimage performed during the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah and is one of the Five Pillars of Islam. Umrah is a voluntary pilgrimage that can be performed throughout the year and is often referred to as the “lesser pilgrimage.”

The actual rituals of Umrah — Ihram, Tawaf, Sa’i, and Halq or Taqsir — can be completed in a few hours. However, most pilgrims spend 7 to 14 days in Saudi Arabia to maximise their time in worship at the Haram.

Umrah can be performed throughout the year. However, Ramadan is considered the most spiritually rewarding time, as performing Umrah during this month holds the reward equivalent to Hajj. January to March also offer cooler temperatures and a peaceful atmosphere.

Our Umrah packages typically include return flights from the UK, hotel accommodation in both Makkah and Madinah, airport transfers, Umrah visa processing, and 24/7 customer support. Full details are listed on each individual package page.
