Getting From Bolton to Manchester Airport

Manchester Airport is about 16 miles from Bolton. The M61 southbound connects to the M60, which feeds into the M56 to the airport. Outside rush hour, you’re there in 30 to 35 minutes.

By Car or Taxi

Straightforward drive. M61 south, M60 ring road, M56 to the airport. Taxis from Bolton town centre typically run £25 to £35 depending on your pickup postcode. Farnworth and Kearsley are slightly cheaper. Horwich and Westhoughton slightly more. Rush hour (7am to 9am, 4pm to 6:30pm) can add 15 to 20 minutes, so early morning departures are ideal. Seven circuits around the Kaaba, anti-clockwise, starting at the Black Stone. Men do Raml in the first three. Pray 2 rakahs at Maqam Ibrahim after. Drink Zamzam.

3. Sa’i

Safa to Marwah, seven times. Air-conditioned corridor. Wheelchair-accessible.

4. Halq or Taqsir

Men shave or trim. Women trim a fingertip’s worth. That’s your Umrah done.
