More Than Just Umrah Packages

Umrah Packages From Oxford 2027

Umrah packages from Oxford in 2027 start at £665 per person for 7 nights in a 3 star hotel, covering return flights from Heathrow, Umrah visa, hotels in Makkah and Madinah, and all transfers. Any departure can be held with a £99 deposit per person.

Oxford has an advantage that most UK cities would trade a great deal for. Heathrow, the airport with more direct services to Jeddah and Madinah than anywhere else in Britain, sits 45 miles down the A34 and M40, and a direct coach runs to it around the clock. No connecting flight, no overnight in a Gulf transit lounge, no 4am drive across the country.

That access changes what a sensible Umrah package from Oxford looks like. Competition between carriers on the Heathrow to Jeddah route keeps fares honest, which is why the prices published on this page hold below the wider UK market rather than tracking it. It also means pilgrims from Cowley, Headington, East Oxford, Blackbird Leys, Rose Hill and Littlemore can realistically leave home and be airside within two and a half hours.

Everything below is a real 2027 rate. Browse the wider range on the Umrah packages homepage, or message us on WhatsApp for live availability on your dates.

What a couple and a family of four actually pay

Per person pricing assumes four people in a room. That is the industry standard and it is honest, but it is not what a couple pays. Here is the real total for the two most common group sizes, on the 3 star tier.

What Umrah From Oxford Actually Costs, End to End

Direct answer: Budget roughly £1,100 for a student sharing a twin on 7 nights, £2,650 for a couple on 10 nights in a 4 star, and £4,300 for a family of four on 12 nights. Those figures include everything, not just the package.

The package price is the biggest number but it is not the only one. These three worked examples cover the additions people forget until they are already committed.

What these figures assume

Off peak travel, four sharing where stated, and moderate spending. Ramadan roughly doubles the package element. Buying gifts in bulk from the markets around either Haram can add £200 or more, and almost everybody does it, so treat these totals as a floor rather than a ceiling.

Book With Just £99 Deposit

Direct answer: £99 per person confirms any 2027 Umrah package from Oxford, fixes your price permanently, and starts your visa file. The remainder is paid in interest free instalments.

What £99 actually buys you

  • A locked price. Airline fare increases after your deposit are ours to absorb, not yours.
  • Your seat allocation and hotel block held against a booking reference.
  • Your visa file opened, so nothing is done in a rush at the last minute.
  • Your instalment plan agreed in writing.

Getting From Oxford to Heathrow

Direct answer: Heathrow is 45 miles from Oxford, around 70 minutes by car, with a direct coach service taking roughly 90 minutes and running 24 hours a day.

By coach

The most sensible option and the one most of our Oxford pilgrims use. A direct service runs from the city centre and from Thornhill Park and Ride straight into the Heathrow terminals, through the night as well as during the day. No parking charges, no M25, and you can travel with luggage without needing somebody to drop you off.

By rail

Oxford to London Paddington takes around 55 minutes, then the Elizabeth line into Heathrow adds roughly 30 minutes. Total journey around 110 minutes including the change. Workable, but coaches are simpler with four suitcases and an ihram bag.

By car

Seventy minutes via the A34 and M40 outside peak hours. Add half an hour if you are travelling between 7am and 9am. Long stay parking for a fortnight will cost more than the coach fare for a family of four, which is worth doing the sums on.

The Heathrow Advantage

Direct answer: Heathrow offers more direct services to Jeddah and Madinah than any other UK airport, with a flying time of roughly six hours fifteen minutes to Jeddah.

More carriers competing on the same route means better fares and better availability, particularly inside eight weeks of departure when regional airports have already sold out.

Should you take the connecting fare?

On a 14 nights package, saving £95 per person for one extra travel day at each end is defensible. On a 7 nights package you are handing back a meaningful share of the trip. With children or elderly parents in ihram, we would not recommend it at any duration. We quote both and give you our honest view rather than the more profitable one.

Open jaw itineraries

Several of our 10 and 14 nights packages fly into Madinah and home from Jeddah. You begin in the quieter city, adjust to the climate, then travel to Makkah for Umrah, and you never repeat a journey. Ask for this specifically, because it is rarely offered by default.

Package Lengths Compared

Direct answer: Umrah takes two to four hours to perform. Package length determines how long you stay in the two Harams, not whether the pilgrimage is valid.

7 nights Umrah package

Four nights Makkah, three nights Madinah, from £665.

Enough to arrive, perform Umrah, pray in the Haram for several days and cover the essential ziyarat in Madinah. The compromise is real though. By the time the six hour flight and the time difference stop affecting you, the trip is more than half gone.

Who books it

Working pilgrims with tight annual leave, students on short vacations, and first timers who want to test their tolerance before committing to something longer.

10 nights Umrah package

Six nights Makkah, four nights Madinah, from £715.

Fifty pounds more than the 7 nights option for three additional days. Those days are what allow a second Umrah from the miqat at Masjid Aisha, unhurried mornings in the Haram after Fajr, and time in Madinah that does not feel like a schedule.

Who books it

The majority of our Oxford bookings. Families, second time pilgrims, and anybody who has been told by a friend that a week was not enough.

12 nights Umrah package

Seven nights Makkah, five nights Madinah, from £825.

The choice when somebody in the group needs to move slowly. Tawaf and sa’i together cover close to five kilometres on marble, usually in heat, often within a day of landing. Twelve nights lets you separate those exertions with proper rest.

Who books it

Multi generational families, pilgrims over sixty, anyone with a mobility limitation, and travellers who want to worship rather than rush.

14 nights Umrah package

Eight nights Makkah, six nights Madinah, from £895.

The complete version, and the lowest cost per night of anything on this page. Room for repeated Umrah, unhurried ziyarat across both cities, and days with nothing scheduled at all.

Who books it

Retired pilgrims, community and mosque groups from Oxford and Oxfordshire, and anybody treating this as a once in a lifetime journey.

Which Star Rating Should You Book?

Direct answer: In Makkah, the star rating mainly tells you how far you will walk. 3 star sits 700 to 1,100 metres from the Haram, 4 star 300 to 700 metres, and 5 star under 250 metres.

3 star Umrah packages

Functional, clean and shared, with a 24 hour shuttle in Makkah and a central position in Madinah. This is how most British pilgrims travel and there is nothing second rate about it. What you sacrifice is comfort at the margins, not access to the Haram.

4 star Umrah packages

The upgrade with the highest return. For £64 to £164 per person you gain several hundred metres, which in practice means walking to prayer rather than waiting for a shuttle five times a day. Given Oxford pilgrims often book longer stays, this compounds.

5 star Umrah packages

Haram facing or immediately adjacent towers, proper dining, fast lifts and room service. For older pilgrims this is not indulgence, it is the difference between attending every prayer and attending half of them. Details on our 5 star Umrah packages page.

Sample Umrah Itineraries

Direct answer: On a 7 nights package you perform Umrah on day two and reach Madinah on day five. On a 10 nights package there is time for a second Umrah and a full ziyarat programme in both cities.

Starting in Madinah is the better sequence and we build it that way whenever flight availability allows. You acclimatise in the quieter city, enter ihram at the proper miqat on the road, and arrive in Makkah ready rather than exhausted.

Planning Around Oxford Term Dates and School Holidays

Direct answer: Ramadan 2027 falls inside Hilary term, roughly 7 February to 9 March. For Oxford students, the practical windows are the Christmas vacation, the Easter vacation immediately after Eid, and the Long Vacation.

Oxford has an unusually large student and academic population, and standard Umrah advice does not fit an eight week term structure. This is the section other travel pages will not write for you.

The Ramadan 2027 problem

Ramadan 1448 is expected to begin around 7 or 8 February 2027 and finish with Eid al-Fitr around 9 March 2027. That sits squarely inside Hilary term at both universities in the city. If you are studying or teaching, performing Umrah during Ramadan 2027 will mean missing several weeks of term.

There is a good workaround. Prices collapse the moment Eid passes, and the Easter vacation begins shortly afterwards. A 10 nights package in the second half of March 2027 costs a third of what the last ten nights of Ramadan costs, with the Haram far quieter.

The Long Vacation is the cheapest period of the year to perform Umrah and the hardest physically, with daytime temperatures in Makkah reaching 43°C. For a student in their twenties this is a manageable trade. For anybody older it is not.

Oxfordshire school holidays 2027

February half term falls inside Ramadan, making it the most requested week from families across the county and the first to sell out. The Easter break, with Easter Sunday on 28 March 2027, lands after Eid and is consistently the best value family window of the academic year. October half term and the summer break are both workable, with summer bringing the heat trade off described above.

Families should look at our family Umrah packages, which use quad and connecting rooms so nobody is split across floors.

Best Months to Travel in 2027

Direct answer: Ranked on value, the best months for Umrah in 2027 are June, September, late March after Eid, and January. Mid April to late May is restricted for Hajj.

Rather than a temperature grid, here is the honest ranking.

Rank

Month

Why

1

June

Lowest prices of the year and almost no crowds. The cost is 43°C heat.

2

Late March, after Eid

Prices fall sharply, the Haram empties, and the weather is still tolerable at 35°C.

3

September

Quiet, cheap, and slightly cooler than the peak of summer.

4

January

Comfortable at 30°C, moderate crowds, low prices. The best all round month if heat is a concern.

5

November

Pleasant weather, moderate demand, sensible pricing.

6

October

Good conditions, but half term week is expensive and busy.

7

July and August

Cheap and empty, but as hot as June with school holiday families competing for rooms.

8

April, first half

Fine until restrictions begin, then unavailable.

9

December

Comfortable weather but school holidays push prices to their second annual peak.

10

February and early March

Ramadan. The most rewarding and the most expensive.

11

Mid April to late May

Umrah restricted around Hajj. Avoid entirely.

The 2027 Hajj closure period

Hajj 1448 is expected in mid May 2027. Umrah visa issuance is normally suspended in the approach, so travel from roughly mid April to late May 2027 will not be possible. Build your plans around it rather than hoping.

Umrah and Hajj: What Is the Difference?

Direct answer: Umrah is voluntary, can be performed at almost any time of year, and takes two to four hours. Hajj is obligatory once for those able, happens on fixed dates, and takes five to six days.

What Is Included in Every Oxford Package

Direct answer: Return flights, complete Umrah visa processing, hotels in both cities, all airport and intercity transfers, Zamzam water and round the clock UK support.

Return flights

Return economy from Heathrow with 23kg hold baggage. Business class quoted on request and often worth asking about on 12 and 14 nights itineraries where the fare gap compresses.

Hotels in both cities

Named properties in Makkah and Madinah, confirmed before payment, all within walking distance or on a continuous shuttle.

Visa processing

Handled entirely by our team including registration and permit steps. No separate charge appears later.

Ground transport

Airport to hotel, hotel to airport, and the transfer between Makkah and Madinah.

Guided ziyarat

Included on 10, 12 and 14 nights packages, and a £45 per person add-on for 7 nights bookings.

What sits outside the package

Meals unless you select a board upgrade, travel insurance, vaccinations, excess baggage, personal spending and optional private vehicles.

The Makkah to Madinah Journey

Direct answer: The Haramain High Speed Railway links Makkah and Madinah in about two hours twenty minutes, covering 450 kilometres at speeds up to 300 km/h.

The train is fast, air conditioned and comfortable, with stations in Makkah, Jeddah, King Abdullah Economic City and Madinah. We book it for family groups and for anybody over sixty, because it removes several hours of road travel. Coach transfer takes five to six hours and is included as standard on the budget tier.

Other distances worth knowing:

  • Jeddah Airport to Makkah: 90 kilometres, about 1 hour 15 minutes
  • Madinah Airport to Masjid an-Nabawi: 15 kilometres, about 25 minutes
  • Masjid Aisha, the miqat for a repeat Umrah, to Masjid al-Haram: 7 kilometres

Umrah Visa Requirements 2027

Direct answer: UK passport holders travel on a Saudi eVisa or tourist visa, which permits Umrah. You need six months of passport validity and a meningococcal ACWY certificate dated at least ten days before arrival.

Documents to send

  • Passport valid six months beyond your travel date
  • Recent photograph on a white background for each traveller
  • Meningitis ACWY vaccination certificate
  • Full birth certificate for any child, showing both parents

Vaccinations

The quadrivalent meningococcal ACWY vaccine is compulsory. GP surgeries and pharmacy travel clinics across Oxford administer it. Book it the same week you book your package, because a certificate dated fewer than ten days before arrival is not accepted and there is no discretion at the border on this point.

Flu and polio boosters are advisory. Confirm current UK government travel guidance closer to departure.

Women travelling without a mahram

Permitted from age 18 under current Saudi rules. We run ladies group departures with a female group leader and female designated rooming, which many sisters prefer to travelling entirely alone. Given Oxford’s student population, this is a request we handle often.

Children and infants

No minimum age applies. Infants under two travel on a lap fare of approximately 10% of the adult fare plus taxes. Children between two and eleven receive a reduced rate when sharing an existing room. More on our Umrah visa guide.

Performing Umrah: The Four Steps

Direct answer: Enter ihram at the miqat, perform seven circuits of tawaf around the Kaaba, complete seven trips of sa’i between Safa and Marwa, then shave or trim the hair.

Ihram

Two unstitched white sheets for men, ordinary modest dress for women. Intention and talbiyah begin at the miqat, announced in flight for those landing at Jeddah, or at Dhul Hulayfah for those travelling from Madinah by road.

Tawaf

Seven circuits starting and ending at the Black Stone corner. The ground floor is busiest. The upper levels and roof are calmer, though each circuit covers more distance.

Sa’i

Seven trips between Safa and Marwa, roughly 3.5 kilometres in total, fully enclosed and air conditioned, with wheelchair lanes.

Halq or taqsir

Men shave or trim, women cut a fingertip length. Ihram ends and the Umrah is complete.

Our group leaders walk first time pilgrims through each stage in person on the ground. Nobody is handed a leaflet and left to work it out.

Your Four Week Countdown Before Departure

Four weeks before

Confirm your vaccination certificate is dated correctly. Check passport validity against your return date, not your outbound date. Notify your bank of travel.

Three weeks before

Collect your travel documents from us. Download the relevant apps for Riyad ul-Jannah permits. Order any currency you want in cash.

Two weeks before

Buy unscented toiletries. Men should buy two ihram sets rather than one. Break in the sandals you intend to walk in, because blisters after sa’i are the single most common complaint we hear.

One week before

Print copies of your passport, visa and hotel vouchers and keep them separate from the originals. Pack medication in hand luggage with a copy of the prescription. Confirm your coach booking to Heathrow.

The day before

Charge everything. Fill a refillable water bottle for after security. Get some sleep, because the first twenty four hours are the hardest part of the entire trip.

Why Oxford Pilgrims Book With Us

Direct answer: Published prices, hotels named before payment, £99 deposits, Heathrow departures as standard, and a support line that answers at three in the morning.

Genuine operating experience

We have run pilgrimage travel for UK departing groups for over a decade, including repeat block bookings for community organisations across Oxfordshire and the Thames Valley. We know which Makkah properties actually operate the shuttle they advertise, and which ones list it and then run it twice a day. That is operator knowledge, not something a comparison site can give you.

Protection for your money

Packages that include flights are sold under ATOL protection and your certificate is issued on confirmation, not on request. If a supplier fails, your money and your journey are covered. Ask every agency you speak to for their ATOL number in writing. Ours included.

Pricing we will defend

Every figure here is a real 2027 rate, benchmarked against the wider UK market and deliberately held below it. Where the market sits at £685 for a 3 star 7 nights package, we sit at £665 with equal or better inclusions.

Support in your time zone

Our WhatsApp line is monitored around the clock during travel periods. When something goes wrong at Jeddah at 3am, somebody answers.

How to Book

  1. Send your travel month, group size and budget by WhatsApp or phone.
  2. Receive a written quote the same working day, with hotel names, distances in metres and a full price breakdown.
  3. Pay £99 per person to fix the price and hold your allocation.
  4. Send passports and photographs so visa processing can start.
  5. Pay the balance across your agreed instalments.

What is the cheapest Umrah package from Oxford?

A 7 nights 3 star package at £665 per person, travelling in June or September with four sharing a room.

How much does Umrah cost for a family of four?

A 12 nights 3 star package for two adults and two children totals around £4,300 including flights, vaccinations, insurance and spending money. The package element alone is £2,810.

£1,810 in total on the 3 star tier sharing a twin, or £1,938 on the 4 star tier, before travel extras.

Can I book with a £99 deposit?

Yes. £99 per person confirms any 2027 departure, fixes your price and opens your visa file.

Is the deposit per person or per booking?

Per person. Two travellers pay £198 to secure the booking.

Do you charge interest on the instalment plan?

No interest, no credit check and no arrangement fee. The plan exists to spread cost, not to profit from it.

Can I pay in full immediately?

Yes, and the price is identical. There is no premium for using the deposit option.

Will my price rise after booking?

No. Once your deposit clears the price is locked, regardless of what happens to airline fares.

Do children pay full price?

No. Infants under two travel on a lap fare of roughly 10% of the adult fare plus taxes, and children between two and eleven receive a reduced rate when sharing an existing room.

Is there a discount for groups?

Yes. Twelve or more travellers receive reduced per person rates and a free coach transfer from Oxford to Heathrow.

How much spending money should I take?

Around £180 for 7 nights, £250 for 10 nights and £300 for 12 nights per person, excluding gifts. Most people spend more on gifts than they planned.

Heathrow, flights and transfers

Which airport do Oxford pilgrims fly from?

Heathrow on all standard departures, since it is 45 miles away and offers the widest choice of direct services to Jeddah and Madinah.

How do I get from Oxford to Heathrow?

A direct coach runs 24 hours a day and takes around 90 minutes. By rail it is roughly 110 minutes via Paddington and the Elizabeth line. Driving takes about 70 minutes.

Is the coach to Heathrow included?

It is included free on group departures of twelve or more. Otherwise budget around £30 return per person.

How long is the flight from Heathrow to Jeddah?

Roughly six hours fifteen minutes direct. Madinah is marginally shorter.

Can I fly into Madinah and home from Jeddah?

Yes, and we recommend it. Several 10 and 14 nights itineraries are built this way so you never repeat a journey. Ask for it, because it is not offered by default.

Would a connecting flight save me money?

Between £45 and £95 per person, at the cost of four to seven extra hours each way. Sensible on 14 nights, poor value on 7 nights, and not advisable with children or elderly travellers.

Can I depart from Birmingham or Gatwick instead?

Yes. See our Umrah packages from Birmingham page, or ask us to quote Gatwick.

What baggage allowance is included?

23kg hold luggage plus hand luggage as standard, with additional allowance available to purchase.

Hotels and accommodation

How far will my hotel be from the Haram?

3 star properties sit 700 to 1,100 metres away with a 24 hour shuttle, 4 star 300 to 700 metres, and 5 star under 250 metres.

Will you tell me the hotel name before I pay?

Yes, at quote stage and in writing.

Are meals included in the package?

Not as standard. Half board and full board upgrades are quoted separately on request.

Can I book a single room?

Yes, for a £395 supplement. On group departures we can usually pair solo travellers into a twin instead, which saves £205.

Can I move to a better hotel after paying?

Yes, subject to availability, charged at the cost difference only.

Do you offer Haram view rooms?

On 5 star bookings, subject to availability and a supplement.

Students and academics

Do you arrange Umrah for students?

Regularly. Twin sharing, term date planning and flexible instalments are all standard on student bookings.

When can an Oxford student realistically perform Umrah?

The Christmas vacation, the Easter vacation immediately after Eid, or the Long Vacation. Ramadan 2027 falls inside Hilary term.

What is the cheapest time for a student to travel?

The Long Vacation between mid June and early October, when both prices and crowds are at their annual low.

Can international students in Oxford book with you?

Yes, provided you hold a valid passport and your UK immigration status permits re-entry. Check your visa conditions before booking.

Do you offer group bookings for student societies?

Yes. Twelve or more travellers unlock group rates plus the free Heathrow coach transfer.

Visa, documents and eligibility

What visa do British passport holders need?

Yes, a Saudi eVisa or tourist visa, which we process as part of your package at no extra cost.

How long does the visa take?

Typically three to seven working days once we hold complete documents. Peak season runs longer.

Which vaccination is mandatory?

The meningococcal ACWY vaccine, certified at least ten days before you arrive in Saudi Arabia.

What if my passport expires in five months?

At least six months from your travel date.

Can a woman perform Umrah without a mahram?

Yes, from age 18. We also run ladies group departures with female leadership and female designated rooming.

Can I perform Umrah on a tourist visa?

Yes, and this is how the overwhelming majority of UK pilgrims now travel.

Is there a minimum age for children?

No. Infants and young children can perform Umrah, and we regularly book families with babies.

Timing and season

When is Ramadan 2027?

Expected to begin around 7 or 8 February 2027, with Eid al-Fitr around 9 March 2027, subject to moon sighting.

When should I book for Ramadan 2027?

By autumn 2026. Last ten nights allocations close first because those hotel contracts are agreed furthest ahead.

Is June genuinely the cheapest month?

June, followed by September and the second half of March after Eid.

Can I travel in May 2027?

No. Umrah is normally restricted around Hajj, expected mid May 2027, with the closure running from roughly mid April.

Is it too hot in summer?

Makkah reaches 43°C in June, July and August. Younger pilgrims manage it. We steer anyone over sixty towards November through February.

How far ahead should I book a standard departure?

Six to eight months. That lead time has been worth £120 to £180 per person on recent seasons.

On the trip

How long does Umrah take to perform?

Two to four hours in normal conditions, and six or more during Ramadan.

Will somebody show me how to perform Umrah?

Yes on group departures. Your leader explains every ritual on the ground and resolves hotel issues directly.

Is ziyarat included?

Included on 10, 12 and 14 nights packages, and available as a £45 per person add-on on 7 nights bookings.

How do I perform a second Umrah on the same trip?

Yes. Most repeat pilgrims return to the miqat at Masjid Aisha, seven kilometres from the Haram, which is a strong argument for 10 nights or longer.

How do I travel between Makkah and Madinah?

By Haramain high speed train in about two hours twenty minutes, or by coach in five to six hours, depending on your package tier.

Is the Haram accessible for wheelchair users?

Yes, with pushers available for a fee, and electric carts on designated upper levels.

Is travel insurance compulsory for Umrah?

Not legally, but we strongly recommend it for medical cover and can arrange it.

Booking and protection

Is my money protected if a supplier fails?

Yes, on every booking including flights. Your certificate is issued at confirmation.

What happens if my flight is cancelled?

We rebook at no cost and adjust hotel nights accordingly. The support line runs 24 hours during travel periods.

Can I change my travel dates after booking?

Before ticketing, yes, and your £99 transfers across. After ticketing, airline change fees apply.

Can I extend my stay?

Yes, subject to flight availability. You pay the fare difference plus extra hotel nights, which is usually cheaper than people expect, since the flight is already bought.

Do you arrange Umrah for mosque and community groups?

Regularly, with block hotel allocation, dedicated leadership and coach transfers from Oxford included.

How do I start?

Send your dates and group size on WhatsApp and we will quote the same working day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. What is Umrah and who can perform it?

Umrah is a voluntary Islamic pilgrimage to Makkah that can be performed at any time of the year. It is open to all Muslims worldwide, regardless of age or gender, provided women under 45 are accompanied by a Mahram.

Hajj is the compulsory annual pilgrimage performed during the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah and is one of the Five Pillars of Islam. Umrah is a voluntary pilgrimage that can be performed throughout the year and is often referred to as the “lesser pilgrimage.”

The actual rituals of Umrah — Ihram, Tawaf, Sa’i, and Halq or Taqsir — can be completed in a few hours. However, most pilgrims spend 7 to 14 days in Saudi Arabia to maximise their time in worship at the Haram.

Umrah can be performed throughout the year. However, Ramadan is considered the most spiritually rewarding time, as performing Umrah during this month holds the reward equivalent to Hajj. January to March also offer cooler temperatures and a peaceful atmosphere.

Our Umrah packages typically include return flights from the UK, hotel accommodation in both Makkah and Madinah, airport transfers, Umrah visa processing, and 24/7 customer support. Full details are listed on each individual package page.
