More Than Just Umrah Packages
Umrah packages from Slough in 2027 start at £665 per person for 7 nights in a 3 star hotel, including return flights from Heathrow, Umrah visa, hotels in Makkah and Madinah and all transfers. Any 2027 departure can be held with a £99 deposit.
Slough is seven miles from Heathrow and home to one of the largest Muslim communities per head of population anywhere in Britain. Those two facts together mean this town sends more pilgrims to Makkah, relative to its size, than almost anywhere else in the country. Families in Chalvey, Manor Park, Cippenham, Langley, Upton, Wexham and Britwell have been making this journey for three generations.
It also means most people reading this page are not first timers. You have been before, or your parents have, or you are the one in the family everybody asks to organise it. So rather than explaining what Umrah is, this page goes deep on the things that actually get asked in Slough living rooms: what Ramadan in the Haram is genuinely like, how to book for three generations at once when everybody needs something different, and how to travel with parents who do not speak English.
Full range on our Umrah packages homepage, or message us on WhatsApp for live 2027 availability.
Direct answer: A 7 nights 3 star Umrah package costs £665 per person, 10 nights £715, 12 nights £825 and 14 nights £895, covering flights, visa, both hotels and every transfer.

Direct answer: Heathrow is roughly seven miles from Slough, about twenty minutes by road, which is the shortest airport journey of any town we serve.
There is not much to say here, which is the point. No coach booked the night before, no airport hotel, no 3am start. A family in Langley can leave home at four in the morning and comfortably make a seven o’clock departure.
That proximity has a practical benefit people overlook. Pilgrims from most UK cities have to add an overnight airport hotel to catch an early flight, typically £90 to £140 for a family room. From Slough you simply drive. For a group of four or five, a taxi to the terminal often costs less than four rail or coach fares, and it takes your luggage with it.
Heathrow also carries more direct services to Jeddah and Madinah than any other UK airport, with a flying time of about six hours fifteen minutes. Direct matters more than most people expect when you are travelling in ihram with elderly parents. Group departures of twelve or more include transport to the terminal at no cost.
Direct answer: Ramadan 1448 is expected to begin around 7 or 8 February 2027 and end with Eid al-Fitr around 9 March 2027. Umrah in Ramadan carries immense reward and involves crowds unlike anything at any other time of year.
This is the section we get asked about more than any other in Slough, and most travel websites will not tell you the truth about it. Ramadan in the Haram is extraordinary. It is also physically demanding, extremely crowded, and nothing like the Ramadan Umrah people picture from photographs.
Option | 3 star | 4 star | 5 star |
|---|---|---|---|
First Ashra, 10 nights | £1,179 | £1,449 | £1,979 |
Second Ashra, 10 nights | £1,279 | £1,549 | £2,099 |
Last ten nights | £1,879 | £2,179 | £2,679 |
Full month, 30 nights | £2,749 | £3,199 | £4,149 |
This is operator knowledge, learned from sending groups, and it is the single most useful table on this page. Times are how far before the iqamah you should be inside the mosque if you want a place in the main prayer areas rather than the outer courtyards.
Prayer or occasion | Normal season | Ramadan, first twenty days | Last ten nights |
|---|---|---|---|
Fajr | 15 minutes | 30 minutes | 60 minutes |
Dhuhr and Asr | 15 minutes | 30 minutes | 45 to 60 minutes |
Maghrib and iftar | 15 minutes | 60 minutes | 90 minutes |
Isha and taraweeh | 20 minutes | 60 to 90 minutes | 2 to 3 hours |
Jumu’ah | 45 to 60 minutes | 2 hours | 3 to 4 hours |
Read that last row again. Jumu’ah during the final ten nights can require arriving four hours early. If nobody has told you that before booking, you were going to find out the hard way.
Mats are laid across the courtyards and inside the mosque well before Maghrib, and dates, Zamzam and simple food are distributed freely. You are welcome to sit and join, and you will almost certainly be invited to by strangers. It is one of the most moving experiences available to a Muslim, and it is worth planning your whole day around.
The practical consequence is that the hour before Maghrib is when movement inside the Haram becomes nearly impossible. Be where you intend to pray before that window opens, not during it.
Taraweeh in Masjid al-Haram is prayed as twenty rak’ah after Isha, and it is long. During the last ten nights, qiyam al-layl is prayed again in the small hours, typically after midnight. Many pilgrims sleep in the afternoon and treat the night as their main period of worship, which is a genuine adjustment to your body clock and one reason we recommend longer packages for Ramadan.
The final ten nights are what most people are really asking about. The Haram fills to capacity, the odd nights fill beyond it, and the atmosphere is unlike anything else in the Muslim world.
Working from an expected start of 8 February 2027, the odd nights of the last ten fall approximately on 28 February, 2 March, 4 March, 6 March and 8 March 2027. All dates shift with moon sighting, so treat these as a planning guide rather than a fixture.
Arrangements for i’tikaf in the Haram have changed several times in recent years and are normally subject to registration or permit. We confirm the current position for your travel dates before you fly rather than letting you arrive and discover it. If i’tikaf is your reason for travelling, tell us at the enquiry stage so we can build the booking around it.
An honest question deserves an honest answer, and for many Slough families the answer is after Eid.
Last ten nights of Ramadan | The fortnight after Eid | |
|---|---|---|
3 star, 10 nights | £1,879 | £715 |
Crowds | At capacity | Very light |
Time to reach the Mataf | Often impossible at peak | Minutes |
Suitable for elderly parents | Difficult | Comfortable |
Suitable for young children | Very difficult | Straightforward |
Spiritual significance | The highest of the year | Ordinary Umrah |
If you are young, fit and travelling without dependants, the last ten nights are worth every pound and every hour of standing. If you are taking a seventy eight year old mother or a four year old, the fortnight after Eid gives you a calm, unhurried pilgrimage for well under half the price. Both are correct answers. Anyone who tells you only one of them is has something to sell.
More on our Ramadan Umrah packages page. Book last ten nights by autumn 2026, because those hotel allocations close before anything else in the industry.
Direct answer: The most common Slough booking is grandparents, parents and children travelling together. The mistake is booking them all the same way, when they need different hotels, different pacing and sometimes different package lengths.
A grandmother in her seventies, a couple in their forties and teenagers do not have the same day. Trying to keep everyone on one schedule usually means the oldest traveller is exhausted by day three and the youngest is bored by day five.
The solution is to stop planning one itinerary. Plan a shared core, usually Umrah itself, the ziyarat day, and the evening prayers, then let the rest of the days run separately. Everybody meets in the Haram. Nobody has to march.
This is allowed, it is common, and almost nobody offers it unprompted.
Your parents and two of the children can stay in a 4 star hotel 350 metres from the Haram while the rest of you stay in a 3 star 900 metres away. Same city, same dates, same booking reference, different buildings. The older travellers get the short walk that makes attending every prayer realistic. The younger ones absorb the saving.
Worked on a family of eight travelling 12 nights: two grandparents, two parents, four children.
Arrangement | Configuration | Total |
|---|---|---|
All eight in 3 star | Two quads | £6,600 |
All eight in 4 star | Two quads | £7,160 |
Split across tiers | One 4 star quad, one 3 star quad | £6,880 |
The split lands exactly between the two, costing £280 more than putting everybody in 3 star and saving £280 against upgrading the whole family. For that £280, the four people who most need to be near the Haram are 400 metres closer to it.
There is a trap here worth knowing. Splitting eight people as two in 4 star and six in 3 star costs £7,500, which is more than simply upgrading everybody. Room supplements are charged by configuration, so the moment you break a group out of full quads you start paying twin and single premiums on both sides of the split. Keep each tier filled in multiples of four and the arrangement works. Break that and it stops working immediately.

Direct answer: We arrange group leaders who speak the language your parents actually speak, and we brief the family so nobody is left managing a Saudi airport alone with a document they cannot read.
A great many Slough pilgrims are taking a mother or father who arrived in Britain decades ago and never needed fluent English to live a full life here. That is completely normal and it should not be an obstacle. It becomes one only when nobody plans for it.
On group departures we can arrange leadership in Urdu, Punjabi, Mirpuri, Pashto, Bengali, Somali or Arabic depending on the group and the season. Ask at the enquiry stage rather than after booking, because it depends on which leader is assigned to your departure.
Heathrow is manageable because you are with them. Jeddah and Madinah are where an older traveller can become separated during immigration queues, which are long and where families are sometimes processed in different lines.
We complete the visa paperwork on your behalf, so there is nothing for your parents to fill in themselves. What we do need is accurate information, and spelling of names must match the passport exactly. Transliterated names are the single most common cause of a delayed application, so send us the passport photo page rather than typing the name out.
Before departure we tell the person organising the trip exactly what will happen at each stage, in what order, and what to do if the group is separated. That briefing exists precisely because a seventy year old should not be working out a Saudi immigration hall from first principles.
Direct answer: £99 per person confirms any 2027 Umrah package from Slough, fixes your price permanently and starts your visa file. The balance follows in interest free instalments.
Shown for a family booking 12 nights, 3 star, six months ahead.
Stage | Timing | Amount |
|---|---|---|
Deposit | On booking | £99 per person |
Second payment | 4 months before travel | 35% of the balance |
Third payment | 2 months before travel | 35% of the balance |
Final payment | 45 days before travel | Remaining 30% |
For a family of eight the deposit is £792 and the first real instalment is four months away. Dates can be adjusted to your pay cycle while the booking is being created, though not after ticketing.
The £99 is non-refundable and fully transferable. Change your travel month before tickets are issued and it moves across with you.
Direct answer: The rituals take two to four hours. Package length decides how long you remain in the two Harams, which is the reason for going.
Four nights Makkah, three nights Madinah, from £665. Enough to arrive, perform Umrah, pray for several days and complete the essential ziyarat. The limitation is recovery time, since most people need two days to absorb the flight and the time shift.
Tight annual leave, first timers testing the heat, and firm budget ceilings.
Six nights Makkah, four nights Madinah, from £715. Fifty pounds more for three additional days. This is the package we book most often across Berkshire.
Most families, second time pilgrims, and anyone travelling with parents.
Seven nights Makkah, five nights Madinah, from £825. The right length when somebody in the party needs their own pace, which describes almost every three generation booking.
Multi generational groups, pilgrims past sixty, and travellers with mobility limitations.
Eight nights Makkah, six nights Madinah, from £895. Lowest nightly cost in the range, with room for repeated Umrah and unhurried ziyarat.
Retired pilgrims, large community groups from Slough, and once in a lifetime journeys.
Direct answer: In Makkah the rating is mostly a measure of how far you walk. 3 star sits 700 to 1,100 metres from the Haram, 4 star 300 to 700 metres, and 5 star under 250 metres.
Tier | Makkah to Masjid al-Haram | Madinah to Masjid an-Nabawi | Shuttle |
|---|---|---|---|
3 star | 700 to 1,100 metres | 300 to 600 metres | 24 hour, Makkah |
4 star | 300 to 700 metres | 150 to 350 metres | Yes, Makkah |
5 star | Under 250 metres | Under 150 metres | Not needed |
For a fit adult the gap between tiers is a pleasant walk. For a parent with arthritis in February, it is the difference between five prayers a day in the Haram and two. That is the whole calculation, and it is why we push the 4 star upgrade for older travellers rather than the 5 star one. Detail on our 5 star Umrah packages page.
We name the hotel in writing before you pay. Always.
Direct answer: On a second or third Umrah, book longer, stay closer, and plan to perform Umrah more than once. The things that felt overwhelming the first time are the things you can now optimise.
Slough has a very high proportion of repeat pilgrims, and almost nothing written for the UK market speaks to them. Here is what changes.
Being the family’s de facto group leader is a real job and it is usually unpaid and unthanked. What we can take off you: the visa paperwork, the room configuration arithmetic, the airport transfers, the hotel liaison, and the person who answers at 3am. What we cannot take off you is being the one everybody asks where to meet. Agree a numbered gate at the Haram before you go in, and photograph the number.
Return to Masjid Aisha, re-enter ihram, make the intention, and repeat tawaf, sa’i and halq or taqsir. Transport runs constantly and cheaply from central Makkah. This is the strongest single argument for booking 10 nights or longer.
Direct answer: Outside Ramadan, the best value window of 2027 is the fortnight straight after Eid from around mid March. June to September is cheapest. Mid April to late May is closed for Hajj.
January is the most comfortable month of the year at around 30°C in Makkah, with moderate crowds and low prices. The second half of March, immediately after Eid, is the outstanding value period, with prices collapsing and the Haram emptying within days. June through September is the cheapest stretch and the hottest, reaching 43°C. October and November offer good conditions at sensible prices, with half term the exception. December is pleasant but school holidays lift it to the second annual peak.
Hajj 1448 is expected in mid May 2027. Umrah visa issuance is normally suspended in the approach, so travel from roughly mid April to late May 2027 will not be possible. There are no exceptions to plan around.
Direct answer: Return flights, full visa processing, hotels in both cities, all airport and intercity transfers, Zamzam water and round the clock UK support.
Return economy from Heathrow with 23kg hold baggage plus hand luggage. Business class quoted on request.
Named properties in Makkah and Madinah, confirmed in writing at quote stage, within walking distance or on a continuous shuttle.
Processed end to end by our team, with no separate charge appearing later.
Airport to hotel, hotel to airport, and the journey between the two cities.
Included on 10, 12 and 14 nights packages, a £45 per person add-on on 7 nights. Makkah covers Jabal al-Noor, Jabal Thawr, Mina, Muzdalifah and Arafat. Madinah covers Masjid Quba, Masjid al-Qiblatain, Uhud and the date markets.
Meals unless a board upgrade is taken, travel insurance, vaccinations, excess baggage, personal spending and private vehicle upgrades.
Direct answer: The Haramain High Speed Railway links the two cities in about two hours twenty minutes across 450 kilometres, at speeds up to 300 km/h.
We book the train for multi generational groups as a matter of course, because it removes several hours of road travel from a day that is already long for an older traveller. Coach takes five to six hours and is standard on the budget tier.
Direct answer: UK passport holders travel on a Saudi eVisa or tourist visa, which permits Umrah. You need six months of passport validity and a meningococcal ACWY certificate dated at least ten days before arrival.
The quadrivalent meningococcal ACWY vaccine is mandatory. GP surgeries and pharmacy travel clinics across Slough administer it. Book it the week you book your package. A certificate dated fewer than ten days before arrival is refused at the border, with no discretion, and for a large family group that means everybody needs it organised at once rather than one by one.
Permitted from age 18 under current Saudi rules. Ladies group departures with a female group leader and female designated rooming are available.
No minimum age. Infants under two travel on a lap fare of roughly 10% of the adult fare plus taxes. Children aged two to eleven receive a reduced rate sharing an existing room. More on our Umrah visa guide.
Direct answer: Enter ihram at the miqat, perform seven circuits of tawaf, complete seven trips of sa’i, then shave or trim the hair.
Two unstitched white sheets for men, ordinary modest dress for women. Intention and talbiyah begin at the miqat, announced in flight into Jeddah, or at Dhul Hulayfah travelling by road from Madinah.
Seven circuits beginning and ending at the Black Stone corner. The ground floor is busiest. Upper levels and the roof are calmer though each circuit is longer, which is the right choice for older pilgrims and during Ramadan.
Seven trips, roughly 3.5 kilometres in total, enclosed, air conditioned, with dedicated wheelchair lanes.
Men shave or trim, women cut a fingertip length. Ihram ends and the Umrah is complete.
Direct answer: Published prices, hotels named before payment, £99 deposits, split bookings across hotel tiers, language support for older travellers, and a UK line that answers overnight.
Over a decade arranging pilgrimage travel for UK departing groups, including repeat block bookings for community organisations across Slough and Berkshire. We know which Makkah properties run the shuttle they advertise. That comes from sending people, not from a screen.
Packages including flights are sold under ATOL protection, with your certificate issued at confirmation rather than on request. Ask every agency for their ATOL number in writing, including us.
Every figure here is a genuine 2027 rate, benchmarked against the wider UK market and deliberately held under it. Where the market sits at £685 for a 3 star 7 nights package, we sit at £665 with equal or better inclusions.
We tell families with elderly parents to consider the fortnight after Eid rather than the last ten nights, which reduces our revenue by more than a thousand pounds per person. We do it because for a seventy eight year old it is the right answer.

Ramadan 1448 is expected to begin around 7 or 8 February 2027, with Eid al-Fitr around 9 March 2027, subject to moon sighting.
From £1,179 per person for the first Ashra in a 3 star hotel, rising to £1,879 for the last ten nights and £2,749 for the full month.
Demand exceeds hotel supply near the Haram by an enormous margin during that window, and allocations are contracted further ahead than any other product in the industry.
Around an hour before Maghrib and 60 to 90 minutes before Isha in the first twenty days. During the last ten nights allow two to three hours for Isha and taraweeh, and three to four hours for Jumu’ah.
Yes. Mats are laid out before Maghrib and dates, Zamzam and simple food are distributed freely. You are welcome to join and will usually be invited.
Twenty rak’ah after Isha, followed by qiyam al-layl in the small hours during the last ten nights.
Approximately 28 February, 2 March, 4 March, 6 March and 8 March 2027, shifting with moon sighting.
Arrangements change year to year and normally require registration or a permit. Tell us at enquiry stage and we will confirm the position for your dates.
Usually not. The crowds make reaching the prayer areas extremely difficult. The fortnight after Eid gives a calm pilgrimage at under half the price.
It is very demanding. Families with children under ten generally have a better experience travelling after Eid or during October and November.
By autumn 2026 for the last ten nights. The first Ashra holds availability considerably longer.
Yes. You get Ramadan in the Haram, taraweeh every night, and iftar in the courtyards, at around 60% of the cost and with far more manageable crowds.
Yes, on the same booking reference. Grandparents can take a 4 star close to the Haram while everyone else stays 3 star further out.
For a family of eight on 12 nights, a four and four split costs £280 more than all 3 star and £280 less than upgrading everybody. Keep each tier in multiples of four, or the supplements wipe out the saving.
Send us the ages and any mobility needs. We build a shared core itinerary with separate pacing around it, rather than forcing one schedule on everyone.
Twelve nights. It builds in genuine rest days, which is what makes the trip work for the oldest and youngest travellers at the same time.
Yes. Twelve or more travellers receive reduced per person rates, free transport to Heathrow, block hotel allocation and a dedicated group leader.
Yes. We can issue one invoice or split billing by family, whichever suits you.
Regularly, and it is a substantial part of what we do in Berkshire.
Yes, and depending on the departure we can also arrange Mirpuri, Pashto, Bengali, Somali or Arabic. Ask at enquiry stage so we can assign the right leader.
No. We complete all paperwork on your behalf and brief the family on exactly what happens at each stage of the journey.
One folder with everybody’s documents, photographs of every passport and visa taken before leaving Slough, and a card in their pocket with the hotel name and address written in Arabic.
Agree in advance that nobody leaves the baggage hall until the whole party is together. Queues are long and families are sometimes processed in different lines.
No. We regularly book pilgrims in their eighties, with the hotel proximity and package length adjusted accordingly.
Yes. Both areas are accessible, wheelchairs are available with pushers for a fee, and electric carts run on designated upper levels.
From £665 per person for 7 nights 3 star, up to £1,369 for 14 nights 5 star, with Ramadan from £1,179.
A 7 nights 3 star package at £665 per person, travelling in June or September with four sharing.
The 10 nights. It costs £50 more than 7 nights and adds three days, which is the cheapest upgrade in the range.
Yes. A family of eight pays £792 to secure the entire booking.
No interest, no credit check and no arrangement fee.
No. Once it clears, your price is fixed regardless of airline fare movements.
Contact us before the date and we will rework the schedule where the ticketing deadline allows.
No. Infants under two pay a lap fare of roughly 10% of the adult fare plus taxes, and children two to eleven get a reduced rate sharing an existing room.
No, it is included in every price on this page.
Around £180 per person for 7 nights, £250 for 10 nights and £300 for 12 nights, before gifts.
Around seven miles, roughly twenty minutes by road. It is the shortest airport journey of anywhere we serve.
No, which is a genuine saving. Pilgrims from most UK cities pay £90 to £140 for one. From Slough you simply drive.
Free on group departures of twelve or more. Otherwise a taxi for four or five people usually costs less than the equivalent rail fares.
About six hours fifteen minutes direct from Heathrow. Madinah is marginally shorter.
Yes, and for repeat pilgrims we recommend it. You start in the quieter city and never repeat a journey.
23kg in the hold plus hand luggage, with more available to purchase.
3 star sits 700 to 1,100 metres away with a 24 hour shuttle, 4 star 300 to 700 metres, and 5 star under 250 metres.
Yes, in writing at quote stage.
Not as standard. Half board and full board upgrades are quoted separately.
Included on 10, 12 and 14 nights packages, and a £45 per person add-on on 7 nights.
Yes. Return to the miqat at Masjid Aisha, seven kilometres from the Haram, and repeat the rituals. Three or four times is achievable on a 14 nights package.
By Haramain high speed train in about two hours twenty minutes, or coach in five to six hours, depending on tier. We book the train for multi generational groups.
Yes on group departures, and they take first time pilgrims through each ritual in person.
A Saudi eVisa or tourist visa, which permits Umrah and which we process inside your package.
Typically three to seven working days once documents are complete, longer in peak season.
The meningococcal ACWY vaccine, certified at least ten days before arrival in Saudi Arabia.
Six months beyond your travel dates, for every traveller including children.
Transliterated spellings are the most common cause of a delayed visa. Send us the passport photo page rather than typing names out.
Yes on every package including flights, with the certificate issued at confirmation.
Not legally, but we strongly recommend it for medical cover and can arrange it.
We rebook at no cost and adjust hotel nights so you do not pay for rooms you did not use.
The strongest value 2027 departures fill first come, first served, and Ramadan, the post-Eid fortnight and December go earliest. Secure your place with £99 per person and pay the balance at your own pace.
If you are booking for a family group, send us the ages and any mobility needs along with the numbers. We will come back with a room configuration and, where it helps, a split tier option that puts the people who need to be near the Haram near it.

Prices are per person from rates for 2027 departures based on four sharing unless stated otherwise, and are subject to availability at the time of booking. Ramadan and Hajj dates are expected and depend on moon sighting. Crowd timings are based on typical seasons and will vary. Language support for group leaders depends on the departure and should be confirmed at enquiry stage.
Umrah is a voluntary Islamic pilgrimage to Makkah that can be performed at any time of the year. It is open to all Muslims worldwide, regardless of age or gender, provided women under 45 are accompanied by a Mahram.
Hajj is the compulsory annual pilgrimage performed during the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah and is one of the Five Pillars of Islam. Umrah is a voluntary pilgrimage that can be performed throughout the year and is often referred to as the “lesser pilgrimage.”
The actual rituals of Umrah — Ihram, Tawaf, Sa’i, and Halq or Taqsir — can be completed in a few hours. However, most pilgrims spend 7 to 14 days in Saudi Arabia to maximise their time in worship at the Haram.
Umrah can be performed throughout the year. However, Ramadan is considered the most spiritually rewarding time, as performing Umrah during this month holds the reward equivalent to Hajj. January to March also offer cooler temperatures and a peaceful atmosphere.
Our Umrah packages typically include return flights from the UK, hotel accommodation in both Makkah and Madinah, airport transfers, Umrah visa processing, and 24/7 customer support. Full details are listed on each individual package page.
